Re: Where do we all live? Sparks are dispersing.

I believe that the vehicle keeps the battery above a certain temp ( ? 2C = 36F ? ) if not plugged in, but if plugged in it will warm the battery to a higher temp. But what I don't remember now is if the vehicle warms the battery *during* the charge, or only after a full charge is *finished*, or *al...

Re: Original Floor Mats

I do not believe the driver one will fit. The holes are in different locations for anchoring it. Let us know if they do work though. I almost bought some weather tech or husky ones that had the front and rear set and I was going to cut the driver side to fit but I was concerned it could slip without...

Re: battery range and cold weather

If you have a 240V outlet you are charging with you can do a preconditioning cycle (remote start) which lasts 20 minutes until it turns off. This will get your battery temperature up to the optimal temperature (12C.) If you just drive the car cold the car appears to only heat the battery to 2C which...

Re: Questions and Data tracking

Data from this month's 100% charge ( November. ) 11/15/19 Previous Charge to 100% was 108 miles. This charge to 100% and the GOM is at 88 miles* (*This was after a full 20 minute pre-conditioning cycle.) Previous Charge to 100% kWh was 16.7333336. It dropped twice between charges (10/31/19 - 16.50kW...

Re: Questions and Data tracking

Shamelessly stolen from another forum : Temperature has a large effect on the relative capacity of the cells. Take a Samsung ICR18650-26F cell as an example - not the same cells used in the Bolt but it is a Lithium based cell. The official datasheet from Samsung specifies the 100% capacity rating a...

Re: Questions and Data tracking

Today's battery capacity reading was 16.5 kWh via EngineLink. A couple other data points since we have now had our first night of below freezing temperatures (our car is parked outside not in a garage.) When the car is remote started while plugged in it will heat the battery to 12C (53.6F) before t...

Re: 2016 Chevy Spark for $7,950 or 2016 Nissan Leaf for $9,850

If you lived somewhere that didn't get too hot or cold and don't mind driving a slow and efficient car I would go for the Leaf and it has more space and the quality of the sound proofing and seating are probably better. If you live somewhere hot I wouldn't go for the Leaf for the lack of battery con...

Re: Chevy spark charging

Is the battery gauge saying it's full or only charging partially? You may check the charge settings to see if it is set for peak rates or departure time. The total mile range fluctuates depending on how you drive the car too. My range was down when I first bought my car as I was having fun with it b...

Re: GOM (estimated mileage) and battery degradation

To get my car to stop charging around 80% I have the charging set by departure time. I only charge via 120v at 8 amps so I don't have to hit any buttons before getting out of the car. I have the departure time set to 1pm and since I leave for work around 8AM that gets it to about 80% charged. I also...
