Re: 2014 Drive battery replacement

There was a recent post about this question on this forum. I believe it stated that the battery for the 2014 is no longer but the battery for the 2015 / 2016 can be used with a number of modifications.

Re: 2016 vs 2014

I just got back from the post office and grocery shopping and have my first energy page numbers since my last post: Energy used 3.0 kWh Driving and accessories 16% Climate 2% This gives a capacity of 16.7 kWh, which is higher than I expected considering that the Torque Pro number is 15.2 kWh. I rem...

Re: 2016 vs 2014

For 5 years, I have had the pleasure of driving a used 2014 2LT w/o DCFC. Absolutely no problems. I have also had the opportunity - my first Spark EV - to drive a leased 2015 Spark EV 2LT with DCFC for three years / 30k miles. Only one problem with some sort of charging issue that required a dealer ...

Re: Battery degredation

I've thought about this a lot. I think it's likely that 30kwh could be fit in the pack, with the improvements that have been made in power density (take the leaf as a somewhat relevant example, which went from 24 to 40kwh in the same space). The challenge IMO is building a solid or "Automotive Grad...

Re: Battery degredation

Has anyone started looking for or found a business that will rebuild the battery in a Spark EV? I've thought about this a lot. Re: Battery degredation

Am I reading your numbers correctly? Therefore, 9.1 kWh / 64% = 14.2 kWh calculated battery capacity. This number will drop if your starting SOC was less than 100%. Morgan, you are correct. This is what happens when I use the calculator in my head. I did another run with an average moving speed of ...

Re: Battery degredation

How do you know this? Compared to what? That's exactly my question. Compared to the dealer's scanning tool, or the car's energy usage page? Compared to the car's Energy Usage Screen. The battery capacity guess is pulling data from the BECM, and therefore should be the same figure the dealer would g...
