Re: Charging Question / New Spark EV Owner

Try using only the departure time setting and set it to 6 am. The car will determine when to start charging based on how much the battery is discharged. If your battery is heavily discharged, the charging start time could begin before midnight in order to have charging completed by 6 am. Charging w...

Re: Charging Question / New Spark EV Owner

[quote=MrDRMorgan post_id=26122 Make sure you have PRIORITY CHARGE turned OFF. If it is on, charging will start immediately and continue until the battery SoC is 40%. Thanks for the reply, but it’s definitely off. [/quote] WOW! You may want to call a dealer or GM. Is the car up-to-date with all sof...

Re: Drive home 100 mile legs... How slow to drive?

I am seriously considering a low mileage 2016 Spark EV that is about 450 miles away. The dcfc stations along my route are around 100 miles apart, and I have a net elevation loss of 400 ft. Assuming negligible battery degradation, how slow do I have to drive (good weather, fan only climate control, ...

Re: Charging Question / New Spark EV Owner

Hi Everyone - we bought a 2014 Spark EV with ~50,000 that was previously used as a commuter car. We get 72-82 miles on a full charge depending on if I, or the wife, drove it last. She's coming from an ICE and I'm coming from a Model S, but we both were pleasantly surprised how much we like the car....

Re: Home charging on a generator

https://youtu.be/n1u4QVkqhUE I have often wondered about doing this. What are the specs on your generator? I have two Honda 1000 watt pure sine wave generators that can be paralleled to produce 2000 watts at 120 VAC. Combined, they should be able to easily supply 12 amps at 120 VAC. I would think t...

Re: Battery degredation

Steves Chevrolet Buick in Oakdale has a 25kW charger (Bosch, not the crappy ChargePoint 24 kW unit). There are two ChargePoint 50 kW (125A) units going in on N Third Ave in Oakdale - work started, unit there, just not turned on yet. Thanks. for the info. I am aware of both but I rarely venture to O...

Re: Battery degredation

I would love to try a trip to Pinecrest but right now it is not possible. You could maybe do it, but I'm sure that it would be anxiety-inducing. I've been to Pinecrest and back from my home. I should have written it down, but as I recall, I had about 25 miles on the guessometer when I got there, an...

Re: Battery degredation

Thank you. I'll probably do some experimenting. I don't have TorquePro, but I've been thinking about it and an ODB2 adapter. I hope that you will tell us what you observe with your change in routine. I get where some people are coming from on trying to manage the state of charge. I'm not going to b...
