Re: Electrify America Charging Station Problems

I tried one of the Efacec chargers again today. I looked closer at my charger port, and it's definitely the correct shape. I added some dielectric grease, and pulled up to the charger at a 45 degree angle so that the connector had no twist. It definitely felt like it clicked in easier and more soli...

Re: Trying to decide and wanted some insight from owners. Spark vs 500e?

Great information. Thanks! You confirmed why I did not see any battery heating while remote starting. It was not cold enough. Just to be clear, you say the battery heater will not go on until the battery temperature drops below 36 deg. F (2C). Do I understand that correctly? That is correct 35.6F t...

My Spark is a 2016 and I had to modify the charge port but if it looks right it probably is. Good luck
Looks like I made a bad assumption. My 2016 was manufactured in June of 2016. Maybe GM made a change sometime during the 2016 model year assembly window.

Re: Trying to decide and wanted some insight from owners. Spark vs 500e?

I looked a Fiat 500e when looking for an EV and decided to go with the Spark EV. The Spark has 4 doors and that was the deal breaker for me. I just commute but I take my son to school every day and for him getting in and out of the backseat just made sense to have 4 doors that way we wouldn't have ...

Re: Trying to decide and wanted some insight from owners. Spark vs 500e?

... What I noticed yesterday is my battery temperature went up from the teens to 25 deg. C when the heater was on. TorQuePro showed the battery cooling RPM at 400. When I turned the heater off, the cooling RPM went to zero. It appears to me that if you want to warm up the HV battery, you need to ha...

Re: Trying to decide and wanted some insight from owners. Spark vs 500e?

Both will suffer from ONE issue : range is lower when it is cold out (starting under 55F); range is significantly lower when it is VERY cold (under, say, 40F). I don't know where you live, but range can drop by 40% if the temp is freezing. You can get around this by "pre-conditioning" the battery (...

Re: In the market for a Spark, but concerned that it's been discontinued

With my 2016 Spark EV (sadly, now deceased), I rarely charged over 80%, and almost never charged over 90% (but I did charge to 100% every 5-8 weeks, to make sure that the cells were balanced every now and then). I also never let the car sit at anywhere near "full charge" for long periods. (When I c...

Re: Electrify America Charging Station Problems

Yes, ABB chargers not BCC. Thanks for the correction. I am old and my brain sometimes fails me! Thankfully most other parts still function, ha ha. It looks like we are getting somewhere with this problem. I wonder if replacing the Spark charge port might fix the problem? Maybe the one on the Bolt w...

Re: Electrify America Charging Station Problems

Thanks for trying the chargers! I tried a 150K one today at the same location in Vancouver WA. It worked perfectly using the phone app while holding up on the cord. After the charger started and the green light lit I was able to let go of the plug and the charge continued normally. This makes 5 doc...
