... go slow and use the regenerative braking....
How do you not use regen braking in normal driving?

Actually for all out range you may want to shift to N and do some true coasting when you need to slow to a stop.
The regen conversion of power is not 100% efficient.

Re: Energy History Gauge

My commute is 200' up in the morning and down in the evenings, usually with a tail wind. Typically not over 90 MPH. With sections were we're all going 70-80 MPH. Love this car ! And this time of year when I only use free public charging at work, except for weekends. So I'm not pinching pennies...

Re: Drive home 100 mile legs... How slow to drive?

One guy set a record on a track going 23 MPH and got 124 miles,,, approx.... Look it up! :!: He suffered! You can too ! No DRL, fan, radio.... Get an orange triangle for the back of the car, like the Amish use on their horse buggies and get on the shoulder with them ! Or borrow a truck ...

Re: New Owner! Just got a 2015 Spark EV w/ 26000!

..... I now have a greater understanding of how the batteries in an EV and the management system works. Here's the article if you're interested: https://cleantechnica.com/2018/08/26/the-secret-life-of-an-ev-battery/ This article talks about BMS as the total brains of the system. I was talking about...

Re: New Owner! Just got a 2015 Spark EV w/ 26000!

.... I believe the last people that had this vehicle didn't drive it with efficiency in mind. .... I'm going to do my best to keep it on the 20-80 charging scale..... Maybe the previous owners enjoyed flogging the little EV hot rod and didn't care about saving a buck and a half a week by driving it...

Re: New Owner! Just got a 2015 Spark EV w/ 26000!

Yeah, I think that's the plan. Not worried about the range much. Thankfully my commute (if you can call it that) is only 2.7 miles one way. So, I do come home for lunch so it's 10.8 miles a day. You would be a candidate for not plugging in for several days in a row. There is a theoretical benefit t...

Re: A "funny" thing happened on the way to CarMax

...(Remember, anything to do with the battery/charging system is covered for 8 years/100K miles) Not quite. >I had a No Go after a DCFC session. Had it towed to dealer. They replaced HPCM1 and all was good until I went to the same DCFC station a few weeks later and it died again and had to be towed...

I know for a fact that you can't put 240V into a 2014 model stock EVSE.

Don't ask........

Re: Just Bought 2015 Spark EV- Did I get screwed?

....When I spoke to the salesman he quoted the factory numbers in terms of its range. I took him at his word .... 1st thing: Is this the first car you ever bought? If so then you are excused. If not,, wth? Do you not know how to tell when a 'used car salesman' is lying? His lips are moving. Serious...

Re: How many miles on your Saprk EV

I am almost at 112,000 miles. So far only the 12v battery and tires. Still get about 60 miles per charge at 3.8 miles per kwh. Dropped by 10 miles when I changed to non eco tires. That is great to hear !! I'm at 64k miles and my 12V battery is doing fine. I gave it a capacity test last fall and I u...
