Re: Bad/Good Issues

Got the car back today. I didn’t get a chance to talk to the rep, because he was at lunch. However, I am going back in a day or two to get fob batteries. The invoice (which I will post a pic of later) gives some hint as to what happens. It says the instructions were to replace the drive battery with...

Re: Potential purchase of 2015 Spark EV 1LT DCFC 40K miles

If it is a warranty replacement, you don't have 'a right' to the used parts ; those belong to GM (who paid for the work under warranty). However, if GM isn't paying to have it shipped back to them (which they probably are) it could be yours for next to nothing! It would be a nice battery for a sola...

Re: Bad/Good Issues

I don’t know if they are related or not. However, when I went to get some things out of my car, the guy at the dealership said that initially the engineers just wanted to replace a specific part in the pack (about 4-5K) that would not be covered by the warranty and replace the bad cell. He said tha...

Re: Potential purchase of 2015 Spark EV 1LT DCFC 40K miles

..Has there ever been a Spark EV with a bad HV battery? Mine. Just got diagnosed with a bad cell (43K miles). It was causing the car to go super wonky. Getting replaced for free under warranty. Interesting! What happens to the old pack? Could you ask them questions about the whole system of warrant...

Re: Potential purchase of 2015 Spark EV 1LT DCFC 40K miles

Or just take it for a long test drive. Have the turkeys make sure the car is fully charged. Use up >50% of the capacity according to the Energy Usage page and do the math . That number will be close enough. Has there ever been a Spark EV with a bad HV battery? Mine. Just got diagnosed with a bad ce...

Bad/Good Issues

So here is the deal, my 2015 (Oct purchase) has over 43K miles on it. It started having issues with the electronics. I would get the propulsion power reduced message come up three blocks after leaving the charging station with 100% charge, the check system light would come on and then shut off after...

Re: Range collapse in 3 months

It doesn't matter if it is 'normal' or not. It's what you have. Don't agonize over it. And Li-Ion batteries do 'age' (lose capacity as the get older) - add on losses due to usage. Is it normal to go from 17.1 to 15.6 in 3 months is the question? I guess i will get a new battery if i lose 1.5 every ...

Re: Bolt/Spark Battery Swap?

Take the Bolt battery pack, make it the base of a trailer, wire it in parallel (assuming output is the same and only aH is different), and off you go. You wouldn’t even need to reprogram the computer. Ranges might be off, but it’s already a GOM. Or take the bolt battery and shove it into an old body...

Re: Weird Behavior

I have not had that specific issue, but I am starting to get things like propulsion reduced after being plugged in all day and having 100% charge. Reading other posts, it could be the accessory battery dying. Appa ntly, when it is not providing a high enough charge, the computer can go crazy.
