Re: Battery does condition w/o plug

Don't have a 14, but I only ever see COND over 0 while driving when temp is over 101 outside, and never more than 1% for a single charge (sometimes over if I do not top off to reset for a few days). I never see it over zero if comes on while plugged in (unless it was already over 0). Also, unless I ...

Re: Crappy front tires question??

I only get the chirp or traction control when my acceleration from a stop hits 60+ kW (2015). I have 23k on them and haven't noticed much of a difference. I still have quite a bit to go until I hit the wear marks (maybe 8-10k the way I drive).

Re: Replacement Battery Cost

If you have capacity degradation near or obviously above the 35% (not range, but capacity) but the dealer refuses to test, and you live in California use this tactic: After they refuse to test say, "So, you are telling me that the only way I can have this warranty service is if you perform the corre...

Re: Battery does condition w/o plug

2015 manual says it will still pull power for battery temp management if the dash light is yellow.

Re: Battery does condition w/o plug

.. That way they can store at 40-60% but still get the benefit of conditioning. How does one do that? It was up a couple posts, and theoretical until somebody confirms, but the idea is to plug the car in at mid-capacity, immediately cancel the charge, and leave the cord plugged in. It will not be c...

Re: Battery does condition w/o plug

That seems logical, so for people storing in hot environs, they should try that. That way they can store at 40-60% but still get the benefit of conditioning.

Re: Noises at shut down

I don't remember exactly where I read this, but if the climate control is on for the cabin, and the battery also needs cooling/heating, everything just gets lumped into the cabin metric. Only way battery conditioning shows up is if you have the cabin controls off and the battery needs heat or cooli...

Re: Electric bike topics/parts

Now that they have automatic IGHs, I could see somebody with the time and inclination to build a hub motor around something like that. No derailleur, no manual shifting.... Put that on the rear of a bike with a second hub motor up front (saw a project where a guy had an AWD hub bike where both used ...

Re: Electric bike topics/parts

Lightweight, 700c, no shocks, all flat ground. Pretty easy to get up to 10 mph on pedal power, motor takes care of it from there. It can do okay on takeoff (1000w), but it is slower than putting in a little effort. Since I didn't pedal any other time, it didn't bug me much.
