I wanted to find a place to put my iPhone 5s whilst driving. Somewhere so that I could see it and get my hands on it if necessary but out of the way of passengers.

Initially, I used an AirDock 2.0 mounted on a Cobra Flex Mount (see my blog post http://2014chevysparkev.blogspot.com/2016/01/floor-console-makeover.html)

The problem with that mounting location was my passenger's knees. They kept bumping the iPhone, knocking it off the mount. I tried adjusting the position of the Cobra Flex Mount by bending it out of the way, but that never worked very well.
So, I bought one of the AirDock accessories:

Mounted it to the flat area in front of that stupidly useless passenger airbag display using two small bolts + nuts + lock washers. Ran the USB cable down behind the console:

and into a 12V 2.4A power adapter plugged-in to one of these (also mentioned in my blog above):

The iPhone sticks pretty well. I've had it fall off once in the 4 days since the install. The trick is to keep the sticky surface of the AirDock 2.0 clean and dust-free. I put some paper-thin neodymium magnets inside my iPhone 5s Qi case and that helps it stick a little better.

It's crude but effective. For now.
