GM Financial not only denied my request to negotiate the buy-out cost but they also refused to grant me extension on the lease.

They told me that lease extension is only granted for specific reasons and me liking the car too much is not good enough of reason?

Truthfully I am trying to wait until the Kona EV come out to make my decision.

Does anyone know the trick or specific reason GM would grant extension on the lease?

I don't know anything about renting a car, except at airports for vacations! :D And lately that is changing due to Turo!
(Rented an i3 for a week in Oregon last summer!)

I too am looking forward to Kia and Hyundai BEV offerings, and even the new long range Leaf, if it has a proper TMS....
All of these choices promise some sort of advanced 'Autopilot' like features.

When, and if, the Bolt starts offering at least Adaptive Cruise Control it would be a contender.

But then I still feel burned by GM's old fashioned 'Trouble Tree' method of Troubleshooting which left me with a $800 bill for a warranty power train failure which left me stranded twice.
