I would like to add a roof rack to my Spark EV to carry bikes and a cargo box.

The factory rails would be the best option in my opinion, but you would need to drop the headliner and drill holes in the roof to add them, so has anybody done it?

Here is an Ebay link to the rails I am talking about, they come stock on the top of the line gas spark:

Awesome idea !!

You first !

I understand the difficulty of tearing into removing interior pieces. You never know where the plastic clips, or whatever, are.
Maybe get a quote from a decent stereo install shop or your Chevy dealership to just drop the ceiling liner enough to show you how it's done. And then drive it home and you do the install, if you are capable.

Go for it ! Be the pioneer and post your procedure! Thanks,

" It can be done, but it was a giant headache, and thank goodness i had the dealer install it as part of the deal......

So the EV is missing a bracket that strengthens the roof to support the additional rails and weight. When my poor dealership first drilled the holes and tightened the racks, the roof initially dented in under the pressure. They had to undo it, strip out the roof lining, weld supporting brackets, fix the roof, repaint it, and after a week, i had a Spark EV with the roof rails. This was within a week or so of the car being available. "

Yea no. Not worth THAT kind of hassle! Well, if that is the case, aftermarket it is! Yakima, Thule, Rhino here I come.
Thanks for the info.

Interesting side note:

I visited my local Rack N Road store, and they said they drill holes in the roof and add permanent mounts all the time. They don't even drop the headliner. It is their preferred method in fact so adding aftermarket racks.

But still, I will just get a roof rack with clips now it seems.
