I recently found out about GM's official battery recycling information that they're working on. As part of this effort, they've established this website:

https://recyclemybattery.com/

Included on the site are "battery extraction manuals" with step by step instructions on how to safely remove high voltage batteries from GM's xEVs, including the Spark EV:

https://recyclemybattery.com/pdf/MY15_Battery%20Extraction%20_Spark_BEDv1.45.pdf

Of course, it's highly unlikely that any of us would be removing our own battery for recycling. This is targeting vehicle recyclers, scrap yards, etc. that would typically deal with a wrecked car that is being salvaged. However, I thought I'd put the info out there in case anybody ever needed it.

I've had this enduring fantasy...fantasies, actually. One, Elon Musk buys VW and puts them out of our misery by announcing what VW is too chicken shiite to announce: All VW vehicles will be EV by 2020 and all VW factories will be converting to EV production starting immediatly; and two, I would harvest batteries from wrecked EVs and create my own Power Wall.

How about taking one of those batteries and stuffing it in the trunk, maybe with the seats down, plug it in and double your range?

I don't want anything that weighs 600 lbs flopping about in my cargo area, especially if I'm in a collision or a panic stop.
