Battery swap has been tried by Tesla and some Israeli company, and they failed. In the "eggish" idea, there's not much room for liquid cooling, so the power would have to be small. It might be ok for golf carts, but nothing with SparkEV power level.

Extra contact and per module electronics seem bulky, cutting into volumetric efficiency. As such, I don't know if this would work well even for golf carts.

There are others who proposed modular battery swap approach. Few years ago, they were planning to take their car across country. I haven't heard about them since.

No, because nobody's been successful doing it , it's less likely it can be done. Also, if I had a buck for each battery breakthrough that didn't pan out I'd be a rich man.

One can read about Better Place's demise via links at https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/project-better-place.635/page-35. They blew thru almost $1 billion by the time they went BK.

On the other hand, I first heard about and saw the electric scooters intended to have their battery packs swapped, battery packs and charging stations at CES: http://www.gogoro.com/. IIRC, there were set up in the Panasonic booth as they use Panasonic's cells. Supposedly, they have a whole bunch of these and stations in Taiwan.
