CHAdeMO units aren't upgraded. Unless they were designed to support SAE Combo but they omitted the connector, they need to be replaced in order to support both.
http://api.plugshare.com/view/location/62462 looks like an example of http://www.btcpower.com/products-and-applications/EV-Fast-Charger/ that was CHAdeMO only at first but then CCS was added later.
If you've seen cases where a CHAdeMO-only unit that was ONLY designed for CHAdeMO and somehow a CCS connector was added, I'd like to know about it.
