I'd like your help to discover if the battery estimation incorrect recall /Fix (GM Program #: N162059690) has an effect on displayed battery capacity. While the description for the fix does not mention this at all, there's reason to believe it MAY have an impact (it very well may not).

Please list your model year, mileage, battery capacity (from torque pro or calculated from "energy details" screen in vehicle display), and whether the dealer has performed this fix/update/recall or whatever you'd like to call it.

Me: 2015/30,230/15.1/No

I appreciate your input to see if there's any correlation.

Me before the "battery estimation incorrect recall" and the HPCM2 module replacement (warranty repair):

Before repairs (example) :
mileage - date - Displayed - Calculated kWh
42110 10-11-17 80% 13.4 -16.75
42366 10-17-17 55% 9.3 -16.91
42416 10-18-17 58% 9.8 -16.90
42480 10-19-17 85% 14.4 -16.94
42654 10-24-17 69% 11.6 -16.81

After:
mileage - -date - - Displayed - Calc kWh
54750 7-24-18 58% 11.5 -19.83
54861 7-26-18 60% 11.2 -18.67
55042 7-31-18 54% 10.5 -19.44
55138 8-2-18 54% 10.8 -20.00
55187 8-3-18 55% 11.0 -20.00
55255 8-3-18 80% 14.9 -18.63
55320 8-6-18 69% 13.7 -19.86
55416 8-8-18 54% 10.1 -18.70

Here's an active spreadsheet to log the energy screen info, which is where all my data came from:
Poke in Displayed % used and kWh used and press enter. It does the calculation. There is one example that can be deleted.

EDIT: Sorry. Need to find a better way to share this thing.

Did they slip me a whole new battery pack and not tell me????

Looks like I need to get that recall done on my 2014 based on what I just saw! WOW!

I now have 19,048 miles and haven't done the recall yet. I best put that on my schedule now!

All of a sudden my capacity is reading higher. Torque still reports 15.1. I should go ahead and have the update done for kicks. I need to have the sdm reprogram recall preformed anyways.

What is your estimated battery capacity Chris?

Feel free to edit your post, and I'll delete this one for the sake of minimizing clutter.

*EDIT* I finally realized I won't be able to delete this post, but I can at least try to make it useful.

2015/12,445/17.8/Yes

General capacity reading from the Energy Details screen has been somewhere between upper 16kWh and upper 17 kWh. Car is used year round for daily 30 mile round trip commute and fully charged roughly every other day at home using L2 no frills Juicebox. No DCFC provision on the car.

Other '15 Spark EV at the house has less than 2,500 miles on it (work at home spouse) and also has all notified software updates performed. That one stays plugged in to 120v outlet using the OEM EVSE whenever not in use. I haven't checked the Energy Details screen on that one but range shows similar to when we picked up the car a couple of years ago (approx. 105 miles in summer and approx. 80 miles in winter).

Just had the software update, need to do a long run sometime soon to see if the capacity appears to have changed. However, the update did something weird to my reported average miles/kwh (this value has never been re-zero since the car was brand new) its jumped from 5.3 to a phantom value of 51.1!

Mine is still acting like a better than ever new battery pack:

mileage - -date - - Displayed - Calc kWh
55465/ 8-9-18 53% 10.6 --20.00
55512/ 8-10-18 55% 10.2 --18.55
55641/ 8-13-18 30% 6 --20.00
55688/ 8-14-18 53% 10.4 --19.62
55747/ 8-15-18 68% 13.5 --19.85

What is going on? I have done some deeper discharges since the recall.

I had that happen as well. The update wiped out the kWh used from memory, but not the miles. 51.1 is the maximum that Sparkie will display. Not sure the programming behind it, but I presume they have some code to prevent a negative value if you end a trip with more juice than you had when you started, and I've seen 51.1 after many downhill trips. If you don't reset the trip computer, eventually the number will start to drop, but with 24k "free" miles, it might take a while. I only had 6k or so and it was a few months before the 51.1 disappeared.

51.1 here too after reprogramming today.

I also went from a FULL battery this morning to having 24 miles left in blue bubble and very drained battery after the software update. I'm going to assume the update itself eats battery and the car is ON the entire hour or so they do this update. (maybe the tech also ran AC while inside since its a hot summer day?)

Anyway, I got home with 17 miles left so my other plans for today with the car abruptly changed because now I just don't have the range... YES the dealership offered to charge me up but I just didn't have the 2-3 hours to spare waiting around for a recharge.

Oh well.. hopefully this helps!

I went into the dealership for the update with pretty much a full charge too with GOM reading about 100 miles when I got there (104 miles before I left for the dealership) and after the update it was essentially the same (~99 miles). Perhaps they were drag racing your car!!! :D
