Re: 2016 Spark low charge?

I should add that I am using General Altimax tires which offer better performance but are not low rolling resistance. When I switched from low rolling resistance to performance my range dropped about 8% from 78 miles to 72 miles.

Re: 2016 Spark low charge?

I have a 2015 I bought in 2017 with 19k miles, now with 91k miles. Today's full charge range is 57 miles. I am in TX dealing with lots of 100 degree days this summer. Back in April when weather was milder my range was around 72 miles. Cold in TX rarely impacts me but when it gets below 30, I have se...

Re: Successful L2 charge using portable generator experiment

Yes, the generator did come in handy! I was without electric service on Monday, February 15 and Tuesday, February 16 when the low was -2 and high was 15. Kind of eerie being the only house on the block with a light on. It felt quite odd driving my EV to fill a 5 gallon gasoline container to fill the...

Successful L2 charge using portable generator experiment

Been a while since I've been on here, still happily driving my 2015 Spark EV purchased back in September 2017. Thanks to a recent $600 stimulus check, I thought I would spend it on a generator for emergency preparedness. Power outages in the Dallas Fort Worth Texas area are uncommon, and I cannot th...

Re: Ghetto heater

Why not place something inflatable in the back seat and/or cargo area (if the idea is to reduce the amount of cubic feet of space to heat)? Heat will eventually transfer to the inside of the inflatable, depends on how well insulated the inflatable is, but for shorter trips it may at least be somewha...

Re: New Electrify America stations

I am quite pleased with EVgo fast charging in Texas, which is good since they are currently the only provider. I am on an infrastructure island in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. If you have not checked out their current plan offerings, take a look. I am on a $10/month plan and only pay more than $10 if...

Re: 2015 Spark EV - 36k miles - still 82 miles!

Up to 37,991 miles and just finished another charge to 100% with a range of exactly 82 miles!

I guess I have a thing for it being exactly 82, which to my knowledge is the EPA rated range when brand new.

Re: Need info from techies & midwest Spark owners

While tossing around crazy ideas, how about listing the Spark EV on a peer-to-peer rental site (i.e. turo.com)? If that generates enough revenue, it might even pay for some kind of garage space, even if just a storage space with 120v electricity, near the airport where it would be a short cab/uber/l...

Re: So it's time for another car...

and NOBODY is stealing that EVSE - the car is parked on top of it. The white hat hacker in me can't help but chime in here. I would think anyone with a jack in their car (most people, but amazingly not most Spark EV drivers) could easily jack up the car and take off with the EVSE and 2x4. It's been...

Re: Moving On

A while ago I remember a poster here showing their custom license plate for their Spark EV as "gto tsla" or something of the like. Hey now! Last month thanks to significant annual fuel savings, I felt compelled to splurge on a custom license plate to raise local awareness! Texas "SPA...
