Re: Alarm going off randomly

12.2V is around 40% SoC for an AGM, starting to get low. Fully discharged AGMs will read under 11.8V and they'll start getting damaged much further beyond that. I'd recommend charging it up so it reads above 12.6V while the vehicle and all loads are off. Once you know your battery is at a high SoC, ...

Broken My Chevrolet App update: Defect status with no end date (no fix)

Current situation: Onstar has followed up with me after I recently refreshed my case # and reconnected with the representative handling my case. She (Cheryl) let me know that the case for this particular issue affecting all Spark EV owners is in "Defect" status with no current end date or fix. They...

Re: L-mode drives like D?

When you press the Defrost button doesn't it use the heater element and the AC compressor at the same time for dehumidification? It may depend on the humidity sensor, if the Spark EV has one.... The Bolt has an auto defog function that can be turned off. I forget if the Spark EV also has Defog (hea...

Re: Remote recondition source of power?

This is all great info! Thanks for sharing these details. I question having to set the car's HVAC settings the night before doing a Precondition. I thought even if it is all turned off it will heat or cool the cabin to some default, even if the controls were not set. Except for the seat heat. That ...

Re: Remote recondition source of power?

I am hoping someone knows more about the electrical characteristics of the onboard HVAC systems and perhaps explain how they get powered under various scenarios (plugged in and charging, plugged in and fully charged, during regen). Q1: If the car is plugged into a L2 EVSE, does remote reconditionin...

Use HVAC when 100% SOC in L to add regen brake power

I'd like to add that the car should allow some regen at 100% SOC if you use 100% heater / HVAC power + rear defrost. To my understanding, the power management scheme limits net regen at 100% SOC, so by increasing power consumption in the vehicle, the regen power will be diverted to those ~7kW loads,...

Re: Acceleration with AC on

at least to a first order approximation, Li-ion batteries put out pretty close to constant voltage over most of their charge range. All of your graphs pretty much demonstrate this (albeit these are for flashlight/camera batteries, not for cars, but the basic chemistry is the same). It's actually qu...

Re: Battery warranty advice for 2014 Spark

I hope that by the end of this I will have found the right words to say and questions to ask to get the battery tested for warranty service. Then I can share them here so others can have an easier time. I saw on another post that MrDRMorgan bought the service manual, maybe they can look and tell me...

Re: Battery warranty advice for 2014 Spark

now they are saying that the test they performed would not provide the kWh measurement. Sounds like a runaround and severe miscommunication between staff without any accountability!? Or they have the capability but failed to use the equipment properly? GM also contacted the other dealer in my area ...

Re: No heat in my 2015 Spark EV

Wow, thanks. At the risk of missing the obvious, I assume the fuses would be the #4 CHCM Fuse (Coolant Heater Control Module) and the #12 Auxiliary Heater Pump Fuse? They're not explicitly labeled on the schematic. Also, I'm curious; pumps? coolant? I know the Spark uses a resistive heater, but is ...
