Re: Battery warranty advice for 2014 Spark

The 2014 has a 3.17 final drive and the 2015-16 has a 3.87 final drive, so that's the main difference. I think they changed the drive ratios in order to compensate for 100 less lb-ft of torque. I Recall hearing the LG cells couldn't take the punishment. I DO enjoy the zippiness! With the lower fina...

Re: Questions and Data tracking

May 2022 readings Doesn't look like I'll qualify for warranty replacement. The warranty period for me ends on 4/19/2023. My warranty booklet (2015) says up to 35% degradation. If I assume that my readings are correct and that the initial capacity is 19 kWh, I would have to get down to 12.35 kWh. Th...

FIXED: My Chevrolet App charge status, range, vehicle efficiency!

Great news everyone, The My Chevrolet and My GMC apps have now both been fixed in the newest 5.10 release. I received a call this morning from OnStar informing me of the news and wanted to forward the message to everyone. Below you can see the charge status in the new UI: https://i.imgur.com/xzKwxjX...

Re: Winter performance?

Yeah, it's bad, especially for a vehicle with a small battery pack, using heat is super punishing, and they don't really explain to users how to master the HVAC settings, they just recommend turning it all off and using heated seats, which is not a workable solution sometimes. It's still a bit confu...

Re: Alarm going off randomly

12.2V is around 40% SoC for an AGM, starting to get low. Fully discharged AGMs will read under 11.8V and they'll start getting damaged much further beyond that. I'd recommend charging it up so it reads above 12.6V while the vehicle and all loads are off. Once you know your battery is at a high SoC, ...

Broken My Chevrolet App update: Defect status with no end date (no fix)

Current situation: Onstar has followed up with me after I recently refreshed my case # and reconnected with the representative handling my case. She (Cheryl) let me know that the case for this particular issue affecting all Spark EV owners is in "Defect" status with no current end date or...

Re: L-mode drives like D?

When you press the Defrost button doesn't it use the heater element and the AC compressor at the same time for dehumidification? It may depend on the humidity sensor, if the Spark EV has one.... The Bolt has an auto defog function that can be turned off. I forget if the Spark EV also has Defog (hea...

Re: Remote recondition source of power?

This is all great info! Thanks for sharing these details. I question having to set the car's HVAC settings the night before doing a Precondition. I thought even if it is all turned off it will heat or cool the cabin to some default, even if the controls were not set. Except for the seat heat. That ...

Re: Remote recondition source of power?

I am hoping someone knows more about the electrical characteristics of the onboard HVAC systems and perhaps explain how they get powered under various scenarios (plugged in and charging, plugged in and fully charged, during regen). Q1: If the car is plugged into a L2 EVSE, does remote reconditionin...
