Re: How i changed my transaxle fluid

Sam, Thanks so much for posting this procedure! 4.4qts for a fluid/filter change... Interesting. Now I need an extra qt. of the ATF I plan on using. Can you post pictures of the 'Fill Cap'? Form your post: Therefore, a fill cap in the top of the Drive Unit (see top arrow) and level set plug (see low...

Re: How i changed my transaxle fluid

The Mobil 1 LV ATF HP should be fine. The Spark EV drive unit is very simple. I trust Mobil 1 products. As Eldobro pointed out there is a newer spec for EV's from gm. I may use that product,, just because. https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=11245308&jsn=10188 But then I found some confu...

Re: How i changed my transaxle fluid

Sam,
Thanks so much for posting these pictures!
They are inspirational.
I need to do this work on mine....

Did it take more than 3 qts. ?
I saw the other thread. I'm sure Mobil 1 LV is fine. It's just gears and bearings in a box.

Re: Climate "ghost" randomly selecting modes

..The 12V battery supports all sorts of auxiliary function.. It gets topped up during recharging, and possibly during driving if it gets low. Technically the 12V system is powered by the DC to DC converter from the HV battery. When the car is in ready mode with the DC to DC converter powering the 1...

Re: Battery warranty advice for 2014 Spark

Wow ...
This is really big news.
So the theory that cars have to be supported by the manufacturer for 10 years is a myth?
What is a '14 Spark EV owner supposed to do? Scrap it at the first HV battery problem?
Did someone mention a buyback program for these effected cars?

Re: Parts fitment woes.

Number 3 looks like a safe bet.
Plus you can return it if it is different.
AFAIK, all Spark EV's are the same except for the battery pack in the '14's.
Good luck!!

edit: if just the glass is the bad part, what about just cutting out a plexiglass mirror and gluing it in place of the glass one?

Re: Non fuel efficient tires

This is just my cheepazz opinion, but I bought the cheapest tires that fit and ignored the Low Rolling Resistance rating. I can't give you a 'decreased range' number. I have no idea if it even matters, but if you run the math will LRR tires pay back their higher price in electron savings? Really har...

Re: Windshield washer does not work.

Sorry to hear this. Yep, one reservoir, two pump motors. Just armchairing it , but I doubt two separate motors went bad. Probably just a loose or dirty connection somewhere. If you could track down the fuse, that would be the first step. Good luck. You might find a small shop that braves electrical ...

Re: Battery warranty advice for 2014 Spark

....Wish I could find my Kill-a-Watt, and just run the battery dry again / charge it up slowly and completely over a weekend and get a decent result. I'm not sure if measuring what goes in is a good way to tell the capacity of the pack. There are normal charging losses. (I've never seen a definitiv...
