Re: Spark Needs Repairs

This all looks pretty bad. Hopefully the suspension attach points are not too out of place. I would think any ordinary body shop can do these repairs. None of it is EV specific. All the parts needed are just regular Spark parts. Take lots of detailed pics and go to the local body shops and see what ...

Re: When looking to buy how do you check battery

An easy way, without getting into OBD2 and apps, is to do a test drive of over 50 miles and be sure the battery is fully charged at the start. Check the 'Energy Usage' page to be sure. You want your drive to use at least 50% of the capacity to make the results more accurate. Check the page again at ...

Re: Charging after sitting for 1+ years.

The 12V battery under the hood is most likely 'Dead'. After this amount of time being dead it's not likely to recover. Do you have a multimeter? Go see what the voltage is on the 12V battery under the hood. You can jump start it with another 12V just like any car, but then the car will try to charge...

Re: AM/FM radio reception

I've read that the antenna base is a powered pre-amplifier.
It can get it's power from a DC bias in one of the coaxes.
It makes sense that there are four:
XM
AM-FM
GPS
Keyfob

Possibly....

Could you find a 'pick and pull' antenna base from any Spark?

Good luck.

Re: Dolly towing a Spark EV

Towed mine home on a Uhaul dolly 800 miles when I bought it out of state.
Dolly towing does not need the steering wheel unlocked.
The dolly has a turntable bearing that allows the car to angle when in turns.

Re: How i changed my transaxle fluid

Sam, Thanks so much for posting this procedure! 4.4qts for a fluid/filter change... Interesting. Now I need an extra qt. of the ATF I plan on using. Can you post pictures of the 'Fill Cap'? Form your post: Therefore, a fill cap in the top of the Drive Unit (see top arrow) and level set plug (see low...

Re: How i changed my transaxle fluid

The Mobil 1 LV ATF HP should be fine. The Spark EV drive unit is very simple. I trust Mobil 1 products. As Eldobro pointed out there is a newer spec for EV's from gm. I may use that product,, just because. https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=11245308&jsn=10188 But then I found some confu...

Re: How i changed my transaxle fluid

Sam,
Thanks so much for posting these pictures!
They are inspirational.
I need to do this work on mine....

Did it take more than 3 qts. ?
I saw the other thread. I'm sure Mobil 1 LV is fine. It's just gears and bearings in a box.

Re: Climate "ghost" randomly selecting modes

..The 12V battery supports all sorts of auxiliary function.. It gets topped up during recharging, and possibly during driving if it gets low. Technically the 12V system is powered by the DC to DC converter from the HV battery. When the car is in ready mode with the DC to DC converter powering the 1...
