Re: Adapter / extension cord in one?

And going from NEMA 14-30 (30 amp socket in the wall) to NEMA 14-50 (50 amp plug) generally isn't a good idea. Even if in your particular situation it is safe (your 14-50 plug is connected to a 16-amp EVSE). bad things happen when mismatches are possible. Going from a 50-amp socket to a 30-amp plug ...

Re: Level 1 Charger with 16 amps

The EVSE (what you call a "charger" - the charger is actually in the car) tells the vehicle what it can provide. The Spark pulls what it pulls. The spark will *never* pull more than 12 amps on 120V. NEVER. The max the SparkEV will pull at 240V is 3.3 kW. So buying anything over a 16A 240V charger is...

Re: "Propulsion Power Is Reduced" + "Service Vehicle Soon," 12V Battery is New

Bingo. Thank you. I just found that same Delco LN1AGM elsewhere on the forum. I could put that in myself, right? Doesn't seem like it would require anything special. A wrench to undo the bolts, take out old battery, put in new, screw bolts back on. BUT - you already paid for a battery from AAA. *TH...

Re: "Propulsion Power Is Reduced" + "Service Vehicle Soon," 12V Battery is New

8.5 V is "dead battery" - as in completely useless. Talk to your neighbors and see if anybody has a battery charger that you can borrow for a day.

Re: "Propulsion Power Is Reduced" + "Service Vehicle Soon," 12V Battery is New

12.22 Volts is low , about 50% - full charge it should be around 12.6V .

I wouldn't think that 12.22V would cause a problem, but to be sure I would trickle charge the 12V battery overnight.

Re: Battery Degradation vs Battery Limited Warranty

Still not a warm and fuzzy, as I think someone here mentioned they don't really test capacity? I just let her know that I'll just continue to drive the car for the next year or so and if I truly do dip below 40%, then I would schedule the appointment. Frankly, I would drive it until it either (1) n...

Re: Battery Degradation vs Battery Limited Warranty

So after chatting with GM on my phone with texts, I set up another appointment with the dealership via a local Customer Experience Representative. The same shop manager told the rep there is no "capacity test" and if there is a problem the car will throw a code. My next call will be to the State At...

Re: Battery Degradation vs Battery Limited Warranty

PS: you can probably find a used Bolt with less than 35k miles near Portland for around $12k-$14k or so. Even with battery degradation (which is much less than on a Spark, maybe 5-10% after 3-4 years) you will have over 200 miles (summer) and over 150 miles (winter) of range. And it should last you ...

Re: Battery Degradation vs Battery Limited Warranty

Concerning Dealer fees : they will try to kill you with fees , putting more money in their pocket. look at the sticker to see if there is both a destination charge as well as a delivery charge. If there is, tell the dealer you aren't paying the delivery charge, because it's nonsense. The Destination...

Re: Battery Degradation vs Battery Limited Warranty

I have a long list of things I do at car dealerships to (1) not get taken, and (2) fvck with them when they fvck with me. The most useful one is knowing what *their* invoice price is (what they pay) *and* all about the current Rebates and Incentives from (*and to*) the dealer. (Sometimes the dealer ...
