Regenerative braking in reverse down a steep driveway

In D or L there is creep which requires a foot on the brake. That takes charge from the battery.

Regenerative braking in reverse down a steep driveway

I have had my Spark EV for a year with 8,000 miles on it. Most of those miles are in L mode. I have no problem maintaining a constant speed or a coasting speed. My mileage in warmer weather ranged from 100 to 120 on a full charge. Those numbers are with lights off. I also shift to neutral at...

Catastrophic tire failure with 5 MPH curb incident.

BalMateo Bowl is off the hook. The City of San Mateo is responsible for the curb. I have filed a claim. A Bridgestone rep called me on Saturday, Dec. 26th. They are sending someone to examine the tire this coming week. I have yet to communicate with GM.

Catastrophic tire failure with 5 MPH curb incident.

I had both front tires replaced at WheelWorks (2 blocks from the bowling alley) I kept both old tires. When I got home, I inspected the tires, and could not identify the failed tire! I thought I been taken by WheelWorks. I then took them to Five Points Tires in Redwood City, which I have used...

Catastrophic tire failure with 5 MPH curb incident.

The Spark has tire pressure monitors, which, if sensing a sudden total loss of pressure, could(and should) trigger a record of the event variables. The 3000 pounds to which you refer, are not "per square inch", but are distributed over the integrated contact area. In my 63 years of driving, I...

Catastrophic tire failure with 5 MPH curb incident.

While pulling into the BelMateo Bowl parking lot in San Mateo at less than 5 mph, my right front tire hit the curb. Big jolt and loud noise. I drove another 35 ft and parked my Spark. The tire was completely flat. AAA came and tried to inflate the tire. No luck. My Spark has less than...

    Multiple gears/transmission in EVs

I like the 2 motor all wheel drive idea. It would help extend the life of the rear brakes by adding regenerative braking to all wheels. I wonder what effect the different gear ratios would have on regenerative braking?

    List your miles and MPGe

For those who live up the hill, as do I, avoid a full charge at home. Leave room in the battery to get use of regenerative braking when you descend that hill down to the real world.

    List your miles and MPGe

I don't have a smart phone and can't use the OnStar Ap. How can I get the MPGe data for my 2015 Spark ev? 2096 miles. > 100 miles per full charge

Finally installed my Bosch Level II EVSE

I got the 30 Amp Bosch hard wired unit with $500 off the price here in California. Cost, $174.64 including tax and shipping. Black Granite Spark ev 2015

Range estimate is useless, I NEED to know how many KWh left.

"... 60 Miles round trip with ~1200ft elevation change doesn't sound bad though, you won't even need to charge at work as long as you start with a full charge at home." Bad advice. If you start with a full charge at home, you can not recover the stored energy with regenerative braking going...

Horsepower required for aerodynmic drag at 55MPH

Iknow the CD is ~.33. What is the cross sectional area? What is the simple formula for using these numbers to derive HP vs speed? Forget Reynolds numbers, I'm not going supersonic. I have seen numbers published for autos which give the HP needed to overcome drag at 55mph. These are...

    Alarms and beeps

My Spark ev(280 original miles) alarm went off about 3 hours after I charged it to ~60%. It was parked in my carport with the charge cable disconnected. No one bumped the car. The alarm shut off when I opened the door(I did not have the remote with me.) Also, there are random beeps while my...
