2016 Spark: What went wrong? Predicted and actual ranges used to agree.

I won't say the LFP Sparks don't lose energy, my 2014 spark capacity dropped to 15.5 kWh usable before I sold it in 2018, while it was 18 kWh+ when I first got it in 2015. There is capacity loss in LFP packs too.

    New main traction battery

Well it's about 8 years now on the car so, GM doesn't want to do any more work on them I bet.

    Charging stops at 52 miles

Very interested in hearing how your battery replacement is going, did you get a new battery pack or a refurbished, a 2014 or 2016 pack?

    Setting the charging time

The Spark EV's charge timer was better than my 2012 Volt's. GM's charge preference timers is head and shoulders above current Tesla (Model 3) which has nothing other than scheduled start time (which is shocking to me TBH). I was able to program all TOU 4 price periods on my Spark EV no problem.

Found brand new 2014 Spark EV batteries online

I wonder if they are actually manufactured from Wanxiang since they bought A123 after they went bankrupt. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wanxiang

Battery Degradation vs Battery Limited Warranty

Mines was around 15.5 to 16.5 depending on temperature (15.5 in early part of the year, but it went back to 16+ by summer). GOM isn't really a accurate way to measure capacity compared to the energy used and percentage. As my job shifted from a 14 mile round trip to a 60 mile round trip near the...

    Moving On

I think the majority of the range loss is still primarily due to the calendar life IMO. Regarding the bumper/water issue, I think Tesla really needed to more testing prior to mass production, but as long as they're company they won't leave us high and dry. GM definitely has much more thorough...

Battery Estimation Incorrect Recall/Fix and Battery Capacity

Any 2014 owners want to report their changes? I did not keep as detailed logs as you guys on the subject, but my overall battery capacity calculation did not change much when I did my update last year. It was reporting around 15.5 to 16.5 KWh available capacity before and after that update.

Went from spark to a Volt....

I went from a 2012 Volt to a Spark, and found the Spark to be a bit peppier since it was a much smaller and lighter car. Volt was definitely better built though and better overall car.

    Remote batteries? Lithium better?

I just bought a set of CR2032's from Ikea for $3 (10 pack so $0.30 each). Been working great for the past 2 months.
