    Rear tire replacement time

My results won't be super helpful because I also replaced the fronts with Bridgestone Ecopia EP422 Pluses at the same time. (I had Yokohama Avid Ascends there before that were worn down.)

    Official Spark EV service manual

FWIW, looks like they have the 2016 service manual in USB form for $100 less than the paper version. AFAIK, the differences between 2015/2016 and 2014 are gear box ratio and battery cells. (The latter may mean that the charger is different as well. Or at least the charging profile in its firmware.)

    Rear tire replacement time

I ended up with the Firestone Champion Fuel Fighters. With a 70K mile warranty, I'm sure they'll be better than the EP150s!

    Rear tire replacement time

Hey everyone. (I tried to search for "rear tires" before posting this but got blocked by the too-common word restriction on searches. Moderator: can you lighten that up please??) My stock Bridgestone Ecopia EP150s in the back are cracking so it's time to replace them finally at 48K miles...

    Bolt charger replacement

I was able to get service diagrams of the Spark EV charger so now I need to try to get the same for the Bolt and compare. I imagine they differ only in physical size, which is not a trivial problem. Hopefully, the actual charging smarts is in the charger itself and what we see on the dash...

Where do we all live? Sparks are dispersing.

I bought mine originally in California but have since moved to Las Vegas and paid about $400 to ship it here. Worth it! What's more, we drive less here than we did in Cali so the decreased range from normal battery degradation is not a problem. (I have about 16kWh usable now from 19 originally...

Service vehicle soon light - inverter programming needed

Hey everyone. My 2014 Spark EV lit its "service vehicle soon" light (amber car with an exclamation point on it) two days ago (at just over 42K miles) with no other symptoms and I just got back from the dealer who found that there was a service bulletin for the issue (code P0B0D) which involved...

    God forsaken 8 amp default

I think Scrambler means that when in doubt, it's best to charge at the lower rate. Think of how many people that don't read manuals (or warning signs) and will just plug in to any old 120V outlet without a thought and would wonder why they keep blowing their breaker if the car's default was 12A...

    OnStar "lithium battery issue"

Taking an educated guess, perhaps there was a voltage sag on the power lines while your car was charging? That would cause it to pull more amps to compensate which may have exceeded an internal limit, if only for a fraction of a second until the electronics clamped it and logged the code. If you...

Battery Degradation - 2014 vs 2015 Spark EV

Indeed. I suspect we'll be more concerned about rust and door dings at that point. I for one am happy to have the 2014 (in a "collectible" Titanium color to boot) with its 400 lb-ft!

How to replace key fob battery

My Spark EV is now telling me that the battery in one of my key fobs needs replacing. I just found a video that explains the process nicely: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85EEB9W6h1c (Don't worry that the part number doesn't match. The procedure is the same.) Basically, flip out the key...

2016 Chevrolet Spark EV's SOLD OUT

Tell them you would like this ability again. They listen to anything that makes customers more willing to purchase.

Brake fluid replacement? At 30K mi?! Special procedure?

Hey everyone. I'm wondering what the deal is with having to replace the brake fluid every 30K miles. I'm coming up on that and have never seen this before in any other car. (It's usually not even a stated regular maintenance item!) The Spark EV uses standard DOT4 brake fluid so nothing special...

    2015 Spark EV 1LT 1200 mi for sale - $15289

Once you list it, you might also try sending a "tip" to AutoblogGreen who may make a post about it since it's so limited-availability. (They've done so before.)

    2015 Spark EV 1LT 1200 mi for sale - $15289

Have you tried listing it on eBay Motors? I'm certain there are folks in other states that want to get one of these.

You'll need to ask for the "stunt man special." ;)

To trade in Spark or not?

It's too bad the Chrysler EPIC minivan wasn't brought to market. (http://insideevs.com/chrysler-epic-electric-van-circa-1999-video/) Perhaps the current EV resurgence may bring us one now? If in 1999 they got 80-90mi on NiMH, imagine how much you'd get with LiIon today! (I'd estimate about double.)

    NEMA 14-50 charging?

Just make sure you wire one of the hot pins and the neutral pin to the 110 plug, not both hots!

    6.6kW effective charging?

I would agree, however adding additional booster chargers looks to be the way forward and easy, since the existing OBC is already liquid-cooled. This has the potential for 9.9kW (~42A) charging which would be fast enough for me in 95% of cases. (Zero to full in about 2 hours, so about 13 miles...
