Me and the Spark's dad at the Smithsonian

Some Spark EV driver should have GM EV2 or the like as their vanity plate.

    Spousal obstacle

Thanks for the good wishes. I was advocating the lease as a much cheaper solution that would avoid the problems of battery degradation and newer longer range tech emerging. Nothing down and $139 a month is hard to beat, even though it's still more than my current, long-ago paid for car even...

    Spousal obstacle

Argh. So the wife keeps going hot and cold on me over this. At first she said okay. Then no over safety fears and range anxiety. Then okay again, then cooler over the summer because vacations depleted our money and she's been spooked by internet scaremongering over the national economy...

    Best Year-Round Replacement Tire?

I like the idea of sticker tiers giving you more exhilarating performance, but bear in mind: taking a range hit increases your risk of being stranded, which can really cost you in money, hassle, frustration, and even humiliation.

    Overcoming wife's safety fears

My wife has been wavering back and forth on me getting one, but she's basically leaning against, especially on safety grounds, not only for me as the driver, but especially for our kids if I put them in the back seat. It wouldn't be the everyday family-hauler (we have a Chrysler Town &...

    Co-worker Ratting on EV charging

I've been extremely allergic to that stuff too. Suffered horribly thru Christmas 2013 (thumb-sized blisters all over arm and legs) and in fact was hospitalized and admitted Christmas night after gritting teeth thru Christmas Eve and morning for the sake of the kids, and the day for the rest of...

    DFCS modification to prevent errors

I have a 2014 LT1 21kwh battery with the quick charge option. Thanks. I'm still not sure if this is necessary to do on a 2015.

    DFCS modification to prevent errors

    Fascinating. Is yours a 2014 or 2015?

    Caution on the tax credit

But even with leasing, how can you be sure that the dealer will be able to claim the credit and that your lease terms will be based on the MSRP minus $7,500 amount?

    AM Radio: Any problems?

Apparently the BMW i3 has no AM radio at all, since BMW decided that the reception is too poor to justify its inclusion. Speculation surrounds the use of carbon fiber rather than metal in the body. http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1098893_bmw-i3-electric-car-quirk-no-am-radio--but-why In...

new spark ev owner in Alabama

I'm married with two kids. I'm looking to replace my gasoline coupe with an electric sedan, as a daily commuter and backup family hauler. Our main family hauler, the minivan, of course has plenty of room for the bulky child safety seats that our kids (age 6 and 3) need. The Spark EV is...

My 2014 Spark EV is completely dead

:o How awful. Any update, pv4evs?

    2016 Chevrolet Spark - Official

I agree. The current Spark and Spark EV have those huge diagonal headlights, a dramatic and eye catching feature that helps distract attention away from the boxy shape and small size. The upcoming Spark is a step backward, more boring.

    Charge complete / interrupted notifications

Am I getting this right? The ONLY way to get charge notifications is through OnStar, which after the trial requires you to pay every month? That would be outrageous if true. I'll bet other EVs don't do that.

    Charge complete / interrupted notifications

Wow - even worse than the glitchy system is the maddening phenomenon of OnStar and the dealer pointing to each other, nobody taking responsibility, and your time being wasted on a huge scale. Horrendous customer service. Shame on GM.

    2016 Spark EV rumours

There are CCS chargers coming to Maryland, definitely. First, BMW and VW have teamed up with ChargePoint to create CCS corridors on both coasts. On the East Coast it will be between Washington DC and Boston along I-95, with a maximum of 50 miles between stations, which by definition would...

    DFCS modification to prevent errors

Is there anyone who meets ALL these criteria: 1) Had problems (preferably frequent and persistent) getting DCFC to work, especially with nrg/evgo charging stations 2) Did the modification 3) Now has no or far fewer problems, especially at the very stations that were troublesome before the...
