LRR Tire Availability (besides OE Ecopia EP150)

I got spanked in an impromptu drag race today by an older Acura. Not dangerous street racing or anything, just gunning it off the line trying to beat the other guy to the merge. It was a friendly mutual thing. I have had it though, no way I should have lost. The road was a little bumpy and...

    List your miles and MPGe

agreed. I know what I pay per kW from PG&E, so I can calculate out my own $/mile and compare it to my other cars $/mi. Some MPGe number really means nothing to me because it's not clear how it is derived. In my case I'm paying around $.25/kWh (ouch, right? the car pushes me clearly into tier...

    Post-charging fan problem?

I have my car set up on delay charge to be ready at 7am. I usually leave around 8a. Sometimes I use 120v @ 8a, sometimes 240v @ 16a. I've never had the fan running when I've gone out to leave in the morning.

    Let's talk tire pressure

About a week ago I bumped up my pressures from 35 to 40. I have noticed no significant differences. It seems to be slightly more efficient and squeal a bit less in hard turns, but it could be placebo.

    Battery Conditioning

I did notice over the weekend (temps were in the 90's) that my Spark was drawing 2kW when stopped at a light. I killed the AC and lights and it was still drawing 1kW. I assume this is the battery conditioning due to high temperatures.

    CA HOV sticker placement photos

got my stickers yesterday! Bought on 4/26, mailed in application when I got the plates. About a month and a half purchase to stickers. Here's my placement thinking. I fear the minor fender bender that requires replacing/repainting the bumper skin, so I put the side stickers on the quarter...

    List your miles and MPGe

I clicked over 1000 miles today. I've got a lifetime MPGe in the app of 124MPGe. I reset the stats in the car when I picked it up, and now at 1000 miles it's showing an average of 4.8mi/kWh (208 Wh/mi). On any given drive it's pretty easy to keep it above 5.5mi/kWh if I want, but usually...

    EVSE 120 VAC Charging Efficiency

The good (and bad!) news with the Spark is it only charges at 3.3kW which is ~14a at 240v. You can get full charging with the Bosch 16a unit, no issues on a 30a line.

Anyone use a home charger that is outdoors?

no issues with the rain. The connectors are designed with water i mind, and the EVSE's are GFCI protected. All is good.

Anyone use a home charger that is outdoors?

My 30a EVSE is in the garage, with a 25' cord that I run under the door. It's fine for my usual parking spot in the driveway. If I need to park further down the driveway (sometimes I do) I use the factory supplied 120v EVSE set on 8a plugged into a 50' long 10awg extension cord. No heat or...

New owner..Painted front grill black and got my Bosch EVSE

I like the grill! Been thinking of doing that on my light blue Spark, but I'm pretty lazy so... curious, did you remove the grille or spray it in place?

My Front Tires are worn to the tread bars!

even driven easy the fronts will wear quicker than a gas car because of the regen. It's like having no rear brakes, the front tires to all the work accelerating and decelerating.

    bike carrier

OK, so following up on my earlier thoughts, here is my bike rack solution. A Seasucker! http://shop.proedgebiker.com/t/seasucker-bike-racks I'd never heard of them before, but a little research showed that they've been around since around 2012, and there are many many happy customers (and the...

    Prospective Sparker

I wouldn't do it personally if I couldn't charge at home. That would just be one more un-needed stressor in my already stressful life... Your situation may be different tho. 20 miles round trip? If it's economy you are looking for, then the cheapest route would be a 10 year old gas powered...

Another Spark EV Died on the Freeway

I hate that the solution is to throw in a new battery pack. It's 99% a software/hardware error somewhere, but instead of doing any real troubleshooting they just replace the most expensive part of the car. maybe Chevy has just put out the word to replace the packs when something...
