Six months with my 2016 Spark EV

Gang... My wife and I have owned this spark EV now for about six months. We both throughly enjoy the car... But there are some issues that I think will keep most people from taking the plunge to a EV. Some of my observations: The cold weather beats the battery up. Summer time range was about...

    battery range and cold weather

I do have the car plugged into a level II EVSE. I've pushed the 'remote start' button on the fob, but I can't tell if it does anything. The car seems as cold wether you just get in or use the remote start while plugged in. Am I missing something here? mike

    battery range and cold weather

I'm in Ohio. Not exactly the sunshine state in winter. It seemed that every time I got into the spark, the range dropped when it gets cold, I'm talking mid 20s to mid 30s here. I rarely use the heater on the way to someplace, and only when I'm on my way back do I turn the heat on. The cabin...

    battery range and cold weather

Thanks for the note. I was beginning to think there was something amiss with the battery pack. Since we're not even into winter yet, I glad i still have my ICE autos. From your experience, will I see even more drop in range when we hit the low teens in temperature? And!! Will I get the...

    battery range and cold weather

Gang, It's been a while since I was on this forum. My 2016 spark works fine. However, I've noticed now that the weather is turning colder, my battery range has really tanked. I purchased this car in june with 9200 miles on it. It's a 2016 by the way. In the summer, I'd see after a full level 2...

    Something odd with both displays

The other day, I stopped by the local chevy dealer. I asked the service man if they had a 'certified' EV car tech. They did. They employ one guy. Okay, that's cool. There can't be too much demand for one here in ohio. Anyway I talked to the service manager, and he wanted to see what I was...

    Something odd with both displays

Gang... on the main display, the one under the steering wheel, on the speedometer the top half of the digits are noticeably dimmer than the bottom half. I also notice this on the info screen when the radio is off and only the time is display. Again, the top half of all the LARGE digits are...

Fan only... no AC or heater

Great! Thanks.. I just knew there had to be a way to run the fan without air or heater. mike

Fan only... no AC or heater

Gang.. Is there a way to turn on the fan without using the AC (or the heater) ? It's been so cool (and wet!) here in Ohio that even the AC in the house remains off. Thanks!

I pulled the trigger! New to us chevy spark

Yup, that's the one I used. It's amazing the number of public charging stations around me in Ohio, like I said, most of them are at hotels. About 20 miles from me is C&S Titanium that has a solar powered level II charger. If I could figure out how to attach a photo, I'd show the solar panels...

I pulled the trigger! New to us chevy spark

Thanks for the note. I've looked around, using an charging locating app, for the high current dc chargers and there are none close to me, I'm in ohio, so unless something changes, that's not going to be an issue. Found a lot of chargers, mostly level II near hotels/motels and apparently they...

I pulled the trigger! New to us chevy spark

Gang.... I've wanted an electric car since the days of the 'voltswagen' and the boatload of flooded lead acid batteries stuffed inside everywhere. Today, my wife and I drove home our new to us 2016 Electric Spark. It has 9600 miles on the clock I've driven small cars all my life, from VWs to...
