    Public Charging Problems

The hangers seem like a good idea. If you're cheap like me - I keep a regular notebook and a sharpie in the car. When I plug in somewhere, I usually write down the estimated time when it's ok to unplug, along with my name & number... and I put the notebook on the dash covering the green light...

    195/55/15 Yoko S-Drives for $75/each!

Good to know that 195/55 will fit all around. I almost ended up buying this deal right now, except I wasn't able to - my story: 1) Tried logging into ebay, forgot what my username was, and couldn't reset it... ok, no big deal create a new one. 2) Create new ebay account, oh wait, can't buy...

    195/55/15 Yoko S-Drives for $75/each!

Hopefully it's ok for me to post this. I've been looking for a new set of shoes for my Spark EV, hard to find a deal on staggered sizes however. I came across this deal, and I'm looking to split it with someone since I have no need for 4x rear tires...

Error message: Fast Charging Not Active

Took my car to the dealer and they were able to figure out what's wrong. The receptacle on the car was interfering with the plug so they had to file down the corners. There is a service bulletin on this - here's the thread about it: http://www.mychevysparkev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4151

San Diego - Need more than 82 mile range?

Another thing to think about regarding the concept of an 80-mile EV. I think that we're never going to see more range than the Model S (~300 miles). There's just no use case for it. I'm sure we *could* build a 500+ mile EV that can drive LA to SF on one charge. But who actually wants to drive...

San Diego - Need more than 82 mile range?

DCFC infrastructure is expensive. I'm guessing $50-$100K each unit? To cover SD to LA via the I-5, probably be looking at a minimum of setting up maybe 3-5 sites. Each with 4-5 charger units to combat ICEing, dead chargers, etc. Cost of land, cost of charging units, installation, maintenance...

Error message: Fast Charging Not Active

I think I figured out why my car isn't working with DCFC. I've had no luck with evgo or chargepoint DCFC's so far. The charger seems to activate and wait for the car to give a response, and the car doesn't respond. Finally managed to snap a pic of this error message when it popped up today...

San Diego - Need more than 82 mile range?

Here's why fast charging doesn't work: I tried making my trip in the Spark. Got to Carlsbad Outlets at 9pm last night on reduced power. This is the sign that greeted me. 3 hours of 3.3kw L2 charging later - made it down to the DCFC near Qualcomm Stadium. It's now midnight. At least I can get...

    Regional Lease Special Ends (kinda)

Is that a 2LT with Fast Charge? Was it the lime or red spark? I think you did better than me - same dealer, 1LT with FC, 10K miles. $1K down + $126/mo x36 inc. tax Only regret is I wish I had gotten more miles.

    Comfort tires?

I thought as much. The wheelbase and the low profile tires are great for smooth roads, not so good for crappy city streets. The mayor in San Diego seems more interested in building a new billion-dollar football stadium for the Chargers (who will probably end up leaving anyway) instead of fixing...

San Diego - Need more than 82 mile range?

Maybe I am, although I think it's hard to disagree that driving with an EV is something that requires a bit of planning ahead of time - just not the same as driving a gas car. Also finding that my driving style doesn't quite get the claimed 82-mile range. With the AC running and on the freeway...

NortBay or EastBay area owners: trade cars for a few days?

I concur. 72 miles is cutting it way too close. I've found the "80 miles of range" to be under ideal conditions. No AC/heat. No uphills, no mashing the accelerator to get on the freeway and keeping it at 55mph. Realistically, for freeway driving I'd say 60 miles is the max. That said, if...

San Diego - Need more than 82 mile range?

My 2 cents on Relayrides - I've had the Prius on there for a few months now. Relayrides takes 25% off the top to cover insurance, admin costs. So at $29/day really means I pocket $21/day, $130/week. I've been seeing 2-3 rentals a month, for simplicity lets say 2 weekends and a weekly rental...

San Diego - Need more than 82 mile range?

I've thought long and hard about the economics of the Fast Charge option. My weekly work trip usually involves the following stops: Start in San Diego in the morning Drive to San Clemente for a meeting (65 miles) Drive to Hollywood & Pasadena to meet vendors (80 miles) Drive back to San Diego...

    Comfort tires?

I see quite a few threads about performance tires on the Spark EV, but I'm going in a different direction here. I'm thinking about comfort tires. I've had the Spark for a couple weeks now and it feels like the stock tires belong on fred flintstone's car. Poor road quality here in San Diego...
