    Moving On

The reservation cotract doesn’t guarantee a $35k car. But, they might get sued for false advertising based on Musk’s previous comments. Also, it would be a PR disaster if they never ship a car at that price. So, they’ll ship a small number.

    Moving On

Agreed, Tesla has done a bait-and-switch with the $35k M3. To avoid lawsuits they'll probably ship a small number at that price, just so they can say it existed. Though I really don't understand anyone with a deposit down not buying the $49k car before the federal tax credit expires. Ignoring...

    Moving On

Not completely following you. I don’t expect a $35k model 3 to ever ship in more than token quantities. I never stood in a line and waited about a month from order to delivery. No complaints. Mine was $49k + $1k for color + $1k delivery. Color and delivery are more expensive now. I’ll get $7500...

    Moving On

I ordered Late July and got it late August on the east coast. I was not a reservation holder. Only option I ordered was Blue color. I’m doing a trial of autopilot now and I’m glad I didn’t pay for it. Way too buggy for my taste. If you want a RWD model, odds are you could still get it before...

No, I’m not concerned. If the BCM or HPCM2 (computers) in the Spark fail the car is a brick too. You may think you have direct physical switches and buttons in the Spark, but most are actually talking to central computers to achieve actions. My M3 was made in 7/2018. Build quality and...

    Moving On

So after almost 2 years driving my Spark EV, I traded it in against a Model 3 yesterday. It was a solid car, but if the battery degradation kept up at the same pace this would have been the last winter it would work for my use case. Decided to jump on the M3 while the full tax credit was...

    Battery degredation

For those seeing low reported values (15-16kwh) at 30,000 miles, are you regularly charging the battery to full? I know the Volt has battery capacity calculation issues (and reduced actual range) if the battery isn't regularly charged to full. The car's computers really need to see full charge...

    Battery degredation

I just used GDS2 to see what HPCM2 reports for my battery capacity. Also included are the previous measures I’ve made with GDS2. Degradation seems fairly linear. 07-29-2017, 11000 miles, 18.5kwh 12-03-2017, 16700 miles, 18.1kwh 07-26-2018, 25800 miles, 17.5kwh

    Battery degredation

The 2014 A123 battery uses a different chemistry than the 2015/16 LG-Chem battery. It's possible that it requires less cooling.

Check Engine Light - Code P0713

Dextron VI compatible ATF is readily available. Should have no problem buying it at any auto parts store.

Best modifications to stay cool in the summer?

Charging heats the battery. Schedule your charging so that it completes just before you normally leave in the morning.

    AC Question

I don't think that's true. If the Temp light is lit, the car will try to achieve the set temperature using the AC or Heater. The Auto function lets the car control vents, fan speed, and re-circulation. Even if all of those are manually set (no Auto), the car will still activate the AC or heater...

    Battery degredation

There wasn’t a change in battery size from 2015 to 2016. I’m not sure where that info came from, but it’s inaccurate. They both use the same battery.

In Phoenix Area, Determined to Have a Spark EV

I just went through this in another thread. But, the best thing to do is set it to charge overnight (use the on/off peak charge settings) when it’s coolest outside. When I leave for work my car has completed charging within the last couple hours. When I get home, I plug it in, it doesn’t start...

Best modifications to stay cool in the summer?

Hit the OnStar button in the car and see if they'll hook you up with the free package that allows remote functions. Onstar probably still has the car registered to its previous owner.

    Battery Conditioning Energy Usage?

Battery Conditioning is the car's Thermal Management System (TMS) actively heating or cooling the battery to keep the battery temp within predetermined values. When it's very cold out, a heater can activate to warm the battery. That only happens when charging/driving/preconditioning. If the...

    Battery Conditioning Energy Usage?

Can't tell you what it uses. But, I set the car to start charging overnight (2am), when it's cooler, to minimize required battery cooling.

    Potential Buyer questions

I’m in CT too. Car has been great. I have over 20,000 miles and my pleather seats are holding up fine. I’d go for the 2LT if only to get the leather wrapped wheel. Also look for a version without the baby blue interior accents. Onstar App works for either 3 or 5 years without subscription. Get...

Suggestions for battery conditoning? Cant charge at home now

The car will do what is needed to protect the battery. If it's at a high SOC and temperature get high, it will run cooling, even when unplugged. But, that's very rate given the high thermal mass and insulation of the battery. More likely those pumps and fans you heard were for the cabin AC.
