Battery Degradation vs Battery Limited Warranty

So after chatting with GM on my phone with texts, I set up another appointment with the dealership via a local Customer Experience Representative. The same shop manager told the rep there is no "capacity test" and if there is a problem the car will throw a code. My next call will be to the State...

Battery Degradation vs Battery Limited Warranty

I was out of town so my father took the car to the dealership to have a spare key made and capacity check the traction battery. Over the phone the service manager tells me if there is a problem with the battery it will throw a code otherwise there is nothing wrong with it. Soooo, you don’t know...

Battery Degradation vs Battery Limited Warranty

I have an appointment Thursday to have the battery checked. I'll at least know if it is or isn't below the limit. They will charge the labor to Chevrolet if the battery fails. They will charge the labor to me if it doesn't. If my luck holds I'll owe more money....

Battery Degradation vs Battery Limited Warranty

Yeah, another first :( . This was a super low mileage (5750 miles) lease, then one private owner vehicle that sold at auction to the dealer in Fresno in March of 2019. The photo on CarGurus was of the dash at that time and showed 80 miles on the guess o meter with most of a full charge so I...

Battery Degradation vs Battery Limited Warranty

After having by wife total my first Spark EV (White 2014, no DCFC) and my son totalling my second Spark EV (Red 2015, DCFC) I traveled 700 miles to Fresno to buy a 2014 with 5900 miles on it hoping everything would be fresh. My first two days are showing about 11.5 KWH on what was a 21 KWH...

Wrecked 2014 Spark EV for sale Boise area

Wife wrecked it a year ago. I have collected a few parts but there is no way I am going to be able to finish this project. Front left side is crunched. Fire department started in with the jaws and ruined the driver door and dinged the passenger door before they realized the door would just open...

    2014 vs 2015

I have a 2014 and 2015. No question the 2015 is quicker. I have never seen as much range as the 2014 though. Stands to reason. 2014 is a bit heavier due principally to the larger battery.

    Solar Go Kart Race

Received two earthX ETX900 lithium iron phosphate batteries for the solar vehicle! I pray they are as great as they are rated on paper!

    Solar Go Kart Race

It is held on May 31-June 1 on the campus of Boise State University. The first night each team has to present their project with a PowerPoint to judges from industry and BSU faculty. This is half the total score. June 1 there is a relay race of sorts; four drivers have their lap times averaged...

    Solar Go Kart Race

Solar Go-Kart race time again! This year we will be attempting to raise enough money to switch to Lithium Ion Batteries, specifically two EarthX ETX900 batteries in series, and four 100W flexible solar panels. The team should have a facebook page up in a couple weeks to track progress. I'll post...

    Gotta love my backwater state!

So Idaho is so far behind the times that the only charging spot at the mall is free. The power company has two free public plugs by the park downtown. The airport has four free plugs in the LONG TERM PARKING LOT WITH NO QUALIFICATIONS!!!! I had to go to the airport admin office for a few hours...

    Possible problem

The last couple weeks the motor in my 2014 has been chattering when throttle is just off idle. It feels like the computer is rapidly jumping back and forth from drive to regen when output is near zero. Doesn’t occur all the time and selecting neutral kicks it out and rolling returns to smooth. I...

Battery Degradation - 2014 vs 2015 Spark EV

Interesting note: my 2014 was delivered to me 10/4/2017 with 8801 miles on it. Manufacturing date was 3rd quarter of 2013. The rough battery capacity was 16.7-16.8kwh for the first couple months. I now have 13400k miles and the battery capacity is slowly getting better. I routinely see 17.2. I...

Front tire life... how long did yours last?

Here in Treasure Valley as you commute out of the city many of the recently widened roads taper from 4 lanes to two at intersections. They include a 2-300 yard merge beyond the intersection and rural drivers think anyone who hasn’t merged 1/2 mile before the light is cutting in line. This often...

Hit a massive pot hole Sunday night...

Took a drive with my little girl (who got engaged over the holiday) for a father daughter jaunt up to the ski resort above our city. If I’m very conservative I can make it all the way to the top and back home on one charge. Three turns from the summit I was in the middle of a sharp 180 degree...
