    2015 Chevy Spark EV specifications

I presume there are electronic limiters that are involved too, but who knows to what extent. The obvious difference between the Fiat and the SParkEV is that final drive ratio where the Spark has long legs which take longer to get rolling, but once rolling it really gets rolling - the Fiat has...

    2015 Chevy Spark EV specifications

Maybe the old ratio was a tad too tall for the drive motor to operate at peak efficiency. It just might be that GM engineers determined a slight bump in ratio would move things closer to the car's mechanical 'sweet spot'.

You are way overestimating the effects of the change. The change difference in ratios is not that great. There still will remain a significant gap in final drive ratios between the '15 Spark EV and any other EV out there. A big gap.... The result is going to be better off the line...

    2015 Chevy Spark EV specifications

Top speed is governed, they just have to bump up the governed limit a bit to match things. And maybe they'll dip into the battery a bit more to match or even exceed the previous range figure. Like Car & Driver found out, GM dotted all the i's and crossed all the t's when they developed the...

    BMW i3

Noz, why not just save your $$, buy a Spark EV which is innovative in its own with its torquey drive motor and tall gearing, and wait for BMW to sort out the hiccups the first gen i3 has? Let others be the beta testers. And BTW, there's nothing to be ashamed about having a bowtie brand logo on...

Comparing EV Distances: LEAF vs Spark

What he omitted saying was that he would have gone 450 miles if he had been driving a Spark EV.

    BMW i3

For garage charging, left front fender location is the ideal location. Drivers must have space to open their door and get out, which means the charge port will always be accessible. Too many garages are set up with shelves, appliances, etc. located at where the front of the car ends up...

    BMW i3

So any way you look at it, a driver has to walk to the back and around to the other side of the i3 in order to plug it in. For those who've already got a charger installed in their garage, it's probably located on the driver's side or the front of the car, assuming you drive into your garage...

    BMW i3

Its appeal won't go much further than those diehard BMW fanatics interested in EVs. Too expensive, too bizzare looking, nothing special about range and performance. The range extender is a poorly conceived play upon what GM has in the less expensive Volt. The i3s is too expensive for how...

    Real World Range

If it says 100 mile range on the display, it represents a running estimate of what range you could reasonably expect to get based upon how the 'brain' has read and averaged out the continually updated history of your Spark's use. If it is only you who drives it and it shows 100 on the display...

    SoCal EV meet Saturday, May 23 @ Santa Ana, 8am - 11am

True, but the Spark has 400 ft/lb, weighs half as much and its long gearing would make for an interesting faceoff - especially at higher speeds where the gearing could make the difference. 60 to 90 is where I think the Spark EV would have its best David vs. Goliath chance.

    SoCal EV meet Saturday, May 23 @ Santa Ana, 8am - 11am

THat's good news that your Spark EV won. That would surprise most people over at the Leaf fansite, some who have sworn the RAV would have no problem blowing the doors off the Spark EV. Are you sure Tony floored the juice pedal, or was he just trying to be a courteous host. At what point did...

Spark trip, efficiency, and range logs

I think that's just an estimate made by the car's electronic brains, based upon previous driving habits. Assuming other people road tested the cars before you got them, the low numbers probably are a result of high torque curiosity. The more you drive the cars, those numbers should self adjust...

Listen up Chevy! -- The official suggestion box...

This is an exciting time in automobile history - we are in the frontier days of the big switchover from gas to electric, and you - Ilectric - are helping push the envelope. First with the Leaf, now with the Spark. As one who is very keen on auto history and who loves watching this period of...

    Fast DC charging

The reason Nissan has a CAPACITY warranty (cough-cough) on their battery is to contain a growing discontent among Leaf owners over premature battery degradation which caused diminished capacity. Why did this happen?... it was due to bone-headed cost-cutting decisions by top management not to...

Email received from Chevrolet Spark Advisor Team

Nobody said ' "best" EV possible', but I did say superior in many ways to other EVs available. You don't think so? The great Denial Syndrome rampant among the Leaf community has descended upon the nascent Spark EV forum. Performance, value, driveability, battery, etc. - you figure it out. If...

    Fast DC charging

Ooof! Alright, I was wrong and apologize for calling you out as a troll. My bad, bad, bad. One question - if DC fast charging is important to you, why did you get a Leaf? Their batteries are known to lose their potency in hot climates, and I don't think quick charging is...

Email received from Chevrolet Spark Advisor Team

Well you sure got by on 3.3kw chargers just fine during your 3 year time, other than loss of range capability due to the substandard Leaf batteries Nissan continues to put into Leafs, dumping them on unsuspecting buyers who deserve better. You included.... Most anybody else also can...

Nobody took their car back, the claim was not backed up with the name of the dealer and the troll disappeared after he was challenged, but you still keep on trying spread the troll bait, don't you, Tony. What's your purpose here? Despite Tony's attempts at spreading FUD because GM and a host...
