    Soften the suspension?

You can greatly affect the ride by lowering the tire pressure. Take it down 5 psi and the ride will be noticeably softer. You will lose a portion of your range, but it beats not driving at all!

Non low-rolling resistance tires and efficiency

I wore the original front tires to a mninimum tread depth in 13,000 miles. The back tires are looking nearly new. I replaced the fronts with Yokohama Avid Ascends, based on the recommendations from this group. I have noticed a tremendous improvement in handling, and am able to smoothy zip...

Programming a new Remote Keyless Entry Fob?

Has anyone successfully programmed a fob? Lost one of the keys, so ordered a new one from the local Chevy dealer. Had my locksmith cut it to match, figuring that I would follow the owners manual instructions to program it. The first step, after turning off the car and sticking the original...

Loss of Range and Battery Not Charging to Full

The difference in range between cold days and warm days is dramatic. Our ambient temperature has swung from 50 degrees to 30 degrees over the past month, and I've seen a 10 mile swing in expected range. The power management chart shows more battery management drain, and there is some heating...

    Wiper motor won't shut off

UPDATE- I pulled the wiper fuse last night when I plugged in. In the morning, my car was fully charged and when I re-installed the wiper fuse, the wipers remained off. My commute was normal, and the wipers behaved themselves in the light drizzle. I let the local Chevy service manager know...

    Wiper motor won't shut off

It's been raining lightly for few weeks , and on my daily commute the intermittent wipers would occasionally flip to standard continuous wiping without input from the control stalk. Turning the stalk to the off position didn't always stop the wipers. Occasionally the wipers would stay on even...

    My, my, my regeneration

8500 miles on the odo, and I experienced the 'no regen' symptom for the first time today. Live near top of a hill and started off fully charged. There has always been room in the battery for a little more charge on the way down to the highway, but today it did not regen, and I had to use the...

    Just got into an accident...

Back on topic, does anyone knows what will become of this totaled-out Spark EV? Will Chevy crush it? If it is sold as-is, will anyone grab it and take the opportunity to hot-rod this car!

    Breaks and Gas pedal reversing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I second the call on this troll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fourteen exclamation points on the initial post title? Oddly vague term of ownership (not nearly a year?) Too low mileage for an actual user. The grammar is very alarmist/ reactionary as well. Well, 'NotImpressed'? Any other details you'd...

    AM radio as motor monitor?

Has anyone else found that by tuning the AM radio to an empty frequency band between stations, you can listen to the power pulses being fed to the motor? It is especially striking at low RPM. I am picking up audible information on what the controller is sending to the motor, and can hear when...

'14 Spark Stands Alone in Winner's Circle in New Crash Tests

I would think the EV would do better, without a large solid piece of machinery in the engine compartment to transmit crash force back into the passenger cabin. It effectively has a larger crumple zone up front.

    Heater affecting range?

We have seen similar power usage by the heater (4-5 watts); this is a big percentage of the power needed to drive at reasonable speeds on secondary roads. My way to reduce the power draw is to wear a fleece coat and a hat, and use a lap quilt my wife made for me to keep my legs warm. I run the...

    Stray AC voltage while charging?

Thanks for the input. I checked under the hood today and the only metal item in that area is the bolt head that holds the safety latch. It had no voltage on it today, either standing idle or while on a ( different) charger. I believe this supports the theory of a poorly grounded/bonded charger...

    Stray AC voltage while charging?

It was a long drive home the day we got our Spark EV, requiring a four hour charge at the Aerovironment Kiosk. At one point during the wait, I wanted to peek at the motor compartment, so I popped the hood release, then walked to the front of the car. As I reached under the partially released...

    Home charging on a generator

Out West we lose power overnight routinely when the winter storms come in off the Pacific. If I need to charge my Spark when the main lines are down, will I be able to plug it into a small generator? It shows it is rated at 120 volts, and 13.3 amps. If my math is right, this is 1600 watts...
