    Charging Status PIDs

One more note... I logged the cell voltages so see if I could find any weak cells and they all seem to be pretty well balanced. I have here a plot of average cell voltage and the deviation of individual cell voltages from that average over my trip to the public charger the other night. In...

    Charging Status PIDs

wellll ... I just typed a nice response, but the forum timed out and lost it.... please excuse me if this ends up much shorter. Thanks for taking the time to check this and typing out a nice response. I really appreciate it. I'm at about 3.29V/cell for the voltage PIDs of the 96cells in the...

    Charging Status PIDs

I got the dreaded "Not Able to Charge" message on my '14 Spark EV a few days ago. It seems like on my car, these pilot signal and voltage present PIDs (from the Bolt list of PIDs) aren't responding (Charge port door status seems to work OK). Do they respond for anyone whose charging is...

Is anyone else experiencing brake issues [failure]?

I managed to drive it home carefully enough to avoid triggering the issue until I pulled into my driveway and held down the brake pedal at the right speed and pressure to throw the warning errors. Hopefully that's good enough for the dealership to figure it out.

Is anyone else experiencing brake issues [failure]?

Good to know. I've been driving very conservatively with that car since the problem first appeared. Is looks like that code is probably "DTC C12B1 00: ABS Master Cylinder Pressure Sensor and Brake Pedal Position Sensor Not Plausible"...

Is anyone else experiencing brake issues [failure]?

They only replaced the 12V battery the first time and didn't replace any parts the second time. This morning, I got the alerts to trigger twice. Shortly after the problem occurred the first time, I stopped and turned the car off for a bit less than a minute which reset re-enabled the...

Is anyone else experiencing brake issues [failure]?

Shoot. My car started to have issues with Brake Assist/Stabilitrack/ABS about a week and a half ago. The hydraulic and regenerative brakes still work, but it requires it a lot more force for the hydraulic brakes without the brake assist. They start working again when I turn the car off and...

    Battery Conditioning Energy Usage?

I looked through the data from my charger and came up with these numbers: Saturday, 7/21; North Las Vegas, NV; High Temperature of 99C. Car outside in full sun 800W, 20 min @~5:30am 900W, 25 min @~11am 900W, 25 min @~ 2:30pm 850W, 20 min @~7pm So total of about 1.3kWh for the full day...

Car died, "Initializing wait shift", started after 10 min.f

When I saw the "over range" indicator on the clamp meter on the 40A scale, I rethought how close I was to the battery. I haven't been working on any e-bikes, but I have an backup electric propulsion system for a sailboat using a couple of old Nissan Leaf cells. So the charger in that picture...

Car died, "Initializing wait shift", started after 10 min.f

Yep, just a dead (well mostly dead) battery. I put about 35Ah back into it on my external charger, connected it back up, and the car came on and started dumping 45A (670W!!) back into the still somewhat discharged battery. I left the car on and watched it for a little bit and whatever portion of...

Car died, "Initializing wait shift", started after 10 min.f

Yeah, after looking around at some other threads, it seems the issue is probably just a dead 12V battery. I was concerned about the charging system for it, but it seems like that system is just kind of finicky (hence the not staying started) and I also remembered that my brake lights stay on...

Car died, "Initializing wait shift", started after 10 min.f

I ran into an issue with my 2014 1LT last night and it displayed this message. I drove the car fine in the morning, but when I went to use the car in the evening, it didn't respond to the remote. The only sign of any electrical activity was the orange passenger airbag light (in the cubby above...

GM Open Source Downloads - Spark EV 2014

Ha!   I guess it would have been an easy port for them to upgrade from the Windows 98 guts that ran the EV1. It's mainly the same OS.

GM Open Source Downloads - Spark EV 2014

I see a bunch of linux packages. Is this the software for the infotainment system and dash board?

Power Needs of Battery Management System?

In general, lithium battery packs need to to have the cell voltage balanced every once in a while and I have no idea how the Spark does that. It still seems mysterious to me how a charging cycle could be fixed power (3.3kW) for a certain time and then be fully charged. The cycle I'm familiar...

Power Needs of Battery Management System?

Yeah, I should change the label on that graph to EVSE internal temperature. The unit is in my garage, so the temperature is dampened a bit from ambient, but if you ignore the internal heating spikes when charging, it gives some info about the ambient temperature. The temperatures I mention in...

Power Needs of Battery Management System?

An OpenEVSE kit with a WiFi kit added. It took a bit of setup, but they guy who makes those kits hosts a webserver that the data gets sent to and I was able to make my own dashboard there. It's kind of interesting that the car is drawing a lot lower power in Case 2 (and for a longer period)...

Power Needs of Battery Management System?

I have seen what I'm pretty sure is my Spark doing some active battery cooling when the car is not actively charging but is plugged in. I live in Las Vegas, though, so it's consistently a bit hotter here (we've consistently been over 100F in the past month or so). Here are some different case...

Range Anexity seek advice on trip from Oakland to Sacramento

Hello Guys, FYI, in warm weather, I see a battery conditioning load when the ambient temperature gets over about 100F out here in Las Vegas. I took a short lunchtime trip when the temp outside was 112F last week and the AC and battery conditioning were eating nearly as much power as the...

Sometimes power on and power off don't work.

I took it in and the dealer pulled some low voltage codes (probably from when I disconnected the battery terminal) but couldn't find anything else. It hasn't had any problems since I disconnected the 12V battery. Maybe one of these days, I'll try another OnStar remote start to see if I can...
