Just park the car under a 500,000 volt power transmission line. The metal body will pickup all kinds of induced voltage.

Actually the traction motor generates AC when in down hill regen mode.the inverter/converter electronic drive power modual rectumfies the AC from the motor/generator's stator windings into DC .

Let's not forget that adding twice as much fuel into an airplane's tanks or twice as many amp/hr of batteries into an EV. Doesn't double the range.

DC to DC converter is far more efficient and lighter than a belt and alternator.

I don't see how a 6.6Kw charger is a whole lot more $$$ to install in a Volt or Spark than a 3.3Kw.

I'm hesitant to drive a small vehicle in a snow storm on roads with full sized cars, pickup trucks, buses and semi's.

Some battery compositions actually improve from brand new and peak somewhere around 20-30% into their service lift.

Chains ? Nobody uses chains on paved roads or street. Not even studded tires are legal unless in the northern portions of some provinces. iirc the Spark EV has minimal tire to wheel well clearance, chains would rip the vehicle to pieces. Chains are for gravel mountain roads, farm tractors...

Purchase some good thermal long underwear tops and bottoms, well insulated boots, heavy mitts, a long winter parka with hood, a balaclava and most important a very warm hat. A 1500W, 120V vehicle interior warmer on a timer would be a good idea too. Definitely a set of these real winter...

I would suspect the province of BC is so broke from public service and social programs that saving even $7000 per EV looks attractive. Their welfare costs are out of control.

The rumoured Sonic EV with more range and interior room may convince some people to "quit sitting on the fence" and go EV. The Spark EV does look like and feel like an electric go-kart beside other highway traffic.

Approx $1700 and $1900 extra per year for Mrs B&D & myself with a Volt or a Spark EV. 2$ million liability, $500 deductible collision & $500 deductible comprehensive. Only one minor speeding ticket for Mrs B&D.
