    So the salesman tells me...

I was really hoping we were beyond repeatedly posting the "frankenplug" rants. *SIGH*. I'm not sure why Tony wants so badly for this DC fast charging standard (and it is an SAE standard) to fail, perhaps because as a Tesla investor he has a financial stake in it - I can't think of any other...

Spark trip, efficiency, and range logs

I believe this is a myth. The Spark is equally efficient with regard to regeneration whether driven in "D" or "L", and in my (unscientific) tests are that "D" results in about a .5 mile/KWh improvement in efficiency over "L". The Spark has two braking systems - regenerative and traditional...

    Charging at home on 120V

Nope, just plug it in. And just unplug it when it's done (or you are done even if the car isn't). The status light on the dash will tell you if it's charging or not, as will the in-car displays and the OnStar mobile app... The ChargePoint card is only for using ChargePoint stations. For those...

Buying experience and a few questions

No, the temporary registration will suffice. Go to the link here and it gives you all the details: https://energycenter.org/clean-vehicle-rebate-project/chevrolet-spark-requirements to register. You should do this ASAP because there are a limited number of rebates. After applying they will...

Spark trip, efficiency, and range logs

Just as the other posters said, it will adjust itself based on previous trips better over time. At the dealer people test drove the car at full throttle, probably. Has anyone else noticed that it defaults to 4.4 mi/KWh when resetting the trip mileage? Or do you see something different? Curious...

Dimmer top half of speedometer numbers

?? This is the way it always works on any vehicles I've owned with keyless entry - if you bypass the electronic/keyless entry by entering via mechanical means the alarm goes off. Given that the key for the Spark is integrated with the remote anyway, it's fine.

Listen up Chevy! -- The official suggestion box...

I spent a couple of days driving around in "L" instead of my usual "D" on my very consistent commute and I found that "L" is less efficient than "D" by roughly 0.5 miles/KWh or so. I think this is due to the inability to coast, which I do quite a bit on my city streets commute - I also found...

Listen up Chevy! -- The official suggestion box...

Right, That's what Park is for. It's no surprise that the car would roll in Drive or Low - just like many automatics would do... I also stupidly did this in our VW Jetta TDI/DSG once - pulled into a parking space on a hill and turned the car off without putting it in park while I had a quick...

Strange "duck" sound upon takeoff - anyone same problem?

Please post of you do, curious what speakers fit and how much it improves the audio.

    Suggestions: Dear Chevrolet

It's quite common - the last 5 vehicles I've owned, including the Spark, have had this feature and from a mix of manufacturers.

You can't, you can only add links to pictures from another site. I created a photobucket account specifically for this purpose.

    Leasing a 1LT - Suggestions Welcome

This was my first lease too, but it's a pretty easy process, no surprises. A couple of things are worth nothing though: 1. The $199 is before taxes. 2. Just like when buying a car, the finance person will have a bunch of add-ons - some the same as buying a car (gap insurance, paint or interior...

    ChargePoint experiences?

My work has a private ChargePoint station and it works fine. Just register your account and card, and you should be good to go. Their notifications don't work very well (I typically get OnStar notifications that the car is done charging 15-30 minutes before the ChargePoint notifications). It's...

    Fast DC charging

That is correct, just like Tesla, there is no capacity guarantee for the Spark's battery. The liquid cooled nanophosphate Li-ion batteries in the Spark are certainly an advancement over the batteries in the LEAF, but only time will tell how much better they fare. And GM is not suggesting the...

    Fast DC charging

Funny - First you tell me that I'm wrong, and then you go on to agree with my statement - that they are going to do battery swap stations.

Owner's Spark registers 127 miles of range

You obviously aren't very familiar with the Spark with this comment. The regen on this car, in fact, is quite excellent. You see, regen charges the battery (really, that's what it does!), and when the battery gets charged, the car gets further range! Amazing math, huh?

Owner's Spark registers 127 miles of range

Nice, and confirms my experience that regen on this car is very, very good.

    Suggestions: Dear Chevrolet

The OnStar mobile app is... pretty horrible. I understand that it can take a couple minutes to talk to the car, but if it was to automatically update it's status every 4 or 6 hours, that would probably cover it for most people. The idea of sending navigation to the car is a really great one -...
