    Recall on 2014-2016 EV

Insideevs just posted a brief article on this: http://insideevs.com/chevrolet-spark-ev-recalled-airbag-issue/ Just a few more details, not much.

Market research independent Servicing and Maintenance

I guess I just don't have enough faith in dealer service abilities, yet. I've been reading too many comments here like "unable to duplicate customer complaint". I don't have the patience for that scenario. Maybe a while after the Bolt comes out - nationwide - I'll have more confidence. Or a much...

Market research independent Servicing and Maintenance

One of the main reasons I haven't purchased a Spark EV is the lack of ANY qualified service available. I'll keep dreaming. (No other EV that I could afford is acceptable to me) Good luck on your endeavor. Your link goes to a survey that I won't complete.

    Elevation gains/losses

1.25Kw is a lot of energy to use while "idling". Have you been able to confirm this level Sevbs? Your blog is incredibly informative, btw. I also haven't been able to find out how much energy it takes to keep the battery warm when plugged in AFTER full charge, overnight at temps below freezing...

Excellent test. I'm going to print this thread for future reference. Thanks Doc. David

First real cold of the season in MD

For anyone interested in a VERY in depth discussion on thermal management...(specific to Volt, but quite similar in the Spark, I imagine) I love this stuff!... I know, I need a life...

First real cold of the season in MD

Since the 12v battery operates certain things, like the fan for example, and then requires recharging from the HV battery, it seems like it will be tricky to figure this out with a reasonable degree of accuracy. At least it's fun trying! (that's as long as I don't electrocute myself in the...

First real cold of the season in MD

My main reason for getting fairly accurate readings is to calculate how much energy is used for heat, fan speeds, seat heater(s), plus a/c, etc... To me, estimating a full charge at 18 Kwh then calculating out the accessory consumption would answer all but 1 part of the equation: Just how much...

First real cold of the season in MD

Hi Dr., My desire to measure the HV as well as the 12v batteries is that power comes from one or the other (or both) at different times. I like the 6 or 10 minute tests since they easily multiply into 1 hour. David

First real cold of the season in MD

I'm going to try to make a list of energy consumption specifications. I'll post when I can. I'm going to see if a shunt can be inserted where battery disconnect is under the rear seat. Don't hold your breath. David

    Suspension Upgrades

I agree with you, Joe. I've never seen such a lightly damaged car have wheels broken off. Of course there can always be more to the story, but it just looks bad. I'm still going to buy one and drive it on the highway, though. My top speed is usually limited to 70. If I go faster than that, I'll...

how to disable the speed limiter

A couple of things come to mind. First, how many kw's is the motor drawing at 90 mph? Electric motor power ratings are based mainly on the ability to dissipate heat. If this motor is rated "100 kw", that is likely the peak "short term" rating. Long enough to accelerate to desired speed, up an...

how to disable the speed limiter

I cannot answer your question but I'd like to add to it since you brought up the speed limiter. To start with, what happens if you hit 90 and keep the pedal to the metal? Does it act like cruise control and you stay at 90, up and down hills and all? If so I would like a "dial in" limiter...

    Peace and quiet

Is that 0.2 to 0.3kwh more for the 23 miles? If so, then X4 for full battery charge = around 1%. That would be essentially unmeasurable in mixed driving. I'll check your Volt comments. Thanks Casual (looking deeper @ silver 14'/"47") David

    Peace and quiet

    A) Any updates regarding silencing the pedestrian alert? Has anyone pulled the instrument panel fuse # 23 marked "pedestrian friendly alert" to see if it works? B) Tire Rack shows "Michelin Premier A/S" as being highly rated for a quiet (and comfortable) ride. Does anyone have an opinion or even...

    JESLA

The Bosch looks good but $999 is too much. I like the specs and price of the Juice Box Pro 40, ($550) although there are many others I haven't looked at yet. Any opinions welcome. update: After looking at the list shown in link on this forum, I still like the Juicebox Pro 40. Futureproof, 120...

    Phone holder ?

Look up 3M VHB double sided foam tape. Expensive but super strong. There was a segment on Modern Marvels about this stuff. David

Any market for extra Bosch charger?

Dusty, I've been looking into EVSE's and the only Bosch I like is still too expensive for me, so go with your ebay plan, at least for now. Thanks for the offer just the same. Maybe another forum member will take you up on your offer. I'm going to go with a portable unit since my charging...
