Returning leased Spark EV without LRR tires

I returned a 2014 Spark EV with Kumho tires with no problems.

    Buying a '14 or a '15__Which one is better?

I would get the 2015. The suspension is better tuned so the ride is nicer. It's noticeable to me.

    Buying a '14 or a '15__Which one is better?

I have both cars - a 2014 with 26k miles and a 2015 with 1k miles. I agree with your comments. The highway efficiency is less with the 2015, although overall effiency (mixed city and hwy) is better. The 2015 has better acceleration at the low end. The suspension on the 2015 also feels more...

NortBay or EastBay area owners: trade cars for a few days?

I also live in Half Moon Bay (hi ezyryder!). my commute to SF is 68 miles round trip with about 5000 ft of climbing. 50/50 city and hwy, no charging at work. I have 26k miles on my black Spark EV. I usually have 20 miles or so left on the battery when I get home. I get about 5 mi/kWh on this...

    List your miles and MPGe

Nearly 21K miles and I have 140 mpge so far. I have hills that I cross every day. Still very happy with the efficiency.

Non low-rolling resistance tires and efficiency

I commute 70 miles r/t so range is important. But traction and safety are even more so. That's why I made the trade off. I think you may feel the same when you get more miles on your car. The original tires are very slippery.

Non low-rolling resistance tires and efficiency

My front tires wore out at 16K miles. I didn't like the lack of traction with the OEM's, and with rainy season coming up, I replaced them with non-LRR tires from Kumho. I have driven the new tires for about 1000 miles. Based on the miles/kwh efficiency on regular driving routes, I estimate...

How many miles on your Saprk EV

Just went over 16K miles. Leased one year ago. I'm screwed on the 12K annual lease miles. At this rate, I will have to return it in 2.3 years. I will buy the next one for sure. Never imagined I would enjoy driving an electric car so much. Goes so well with my solar panels

Why is Spark EV sales so poor?

I think the Volt is suffering from customer anticipation of the next model year announcements.

Why is Spark EV sales so poor?

Here's the latest EV sales numbers: http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1094705_plug-in-electric-car-sales-in-sept-leaf-up-again-volt-down/page-2 Spark EV just sold 51 units in September. It appears to be plummeting. I'm sorry to see this well designed car lose momentum in the marketplace...

    Mixing stock and non-stock tires

Yeah, it was total BS. I called the dealer and another tire chain. Both said plenty of drivers mix and match. I reported this incident on their Yelp page. I don't know how those kind of people can sleep at night.

    Mixing stock and non-stock tires

At 16K miles, my front tires are wearing thin. I was thinking of replacing them with non low rolling resistance tires for better traction. The rears still look great. The tire shop I went to insists it's not safe to mix them, and is trying to get me to buy 4 new tires. Anybody know if...

    hydrogen Source and re-fill

No point continuing this thread. You're clearly not interested in a discussion. You're just spewing knee-jerk, wise-ass comments. I admire your passion for EV's and the energy you put into promoting the technology. But you would serve the movement so much better if you acted as an...

    hydrogen Source and re-fill

No, hydrogen would not be for me. I love my EV and solar panels on the roof. My point is the more choice the better. Different users will decide on what's best for them.

    hydrogen Source and re-fill

Why is the debate about hydrogen vs electric cars? Why can't both co-exist? It seems to me that the market is big enough to support both. The logical, initial niche for hydrogen is for fleets - like delivery trucks and buses, etc. The logical niche for EVs is commuters with defined ranges...

LA Car article on the Spark EV: ELECTRIC HOT ROD FROM HELL

I thought it was a wonderful article. Captures exactly why I got my Spark EV and why I just love driving it around. I have >14K miles on the odometer in 9 months to prove it :) I sure hope GM continues the line after my lease runs out (or more precisely - when I run out of miles on the...

    Tire "skidding" question

I experience the same skidding issues and agree with the above answer - except the "Nothing to worry about..." part. I do appreciate the extra m/kwh, but I remain very aware that my tires are not as grippy as normal. I'm careful going around turns and on wet roads. Fortunately, I'm in...

Sparky charging time calculation goes haywire

I have the same problem. No matter how I set the timed charging, it always starts charging right away. I've not bothered to take it into the dealer as I'm sure they would not know how to deal with it. I just set an alarm for 9pm to plug the car in. There was a Chevy engineer on this forum...
