    6.2 Miles per KWh Average

I've gotten as high as 6.5 on my AM commute because I'm dropping about 700 ft net elevation over the ~15 miles. Going home the best I can get is low 4's because I'm climbing. My best overall efficiency for a complete 30 mile round trip commute has been 5.1. That's in cold but not freezing...

    Suspension Upgrades

Thanks, Bryce, for the great photo. I look forward to the write up. Any issues with tires rubbing the wheel well at that height?

faster highway commute / hot weather

I can't speak to hot weather driving (yet), but do commute in very cold weather running heater most of the time (worse can than AC, I am told). Cold also reportedly hurts range more than heat so you'll likely fare better in hot weather. The car's aerodynamic aren't great (body is too short)...

    Back up camera?

Boy, a wide-angle rear cam would be a great addition. The rear visibility is pretty poor with those chubby C pillars and rear headrests. If anyone does this, please post details. TadiBrothers sells a variety of kits that might work. A little spendy but if cost is no object...

    Mixed size stock tires?

That would be a very reasonable explanation except that the weight distribution is nearly 50/50 according to the Car and Driver review. And the first time somebody rotates their tires then the size difference is backwards, which defeats the purpose of having different sizes. Rotation is not...

    Mixed size stock tires?

Does anyone know why chevy chose to put different width tires on the back vs the front? (195 vs 185)? Do they not believe in tire rotation?

    Tires

Sweet! Thanks for the great info and pics. Looks like there's a number missing where you wrote the tire size. Was that width of 21 supposed to be 215? Also, can you tell us what the width and offset of the rim are? Any clearance issues? I'd really like to put wider tires on the stock rims...

    12V Power System in Spark

Can't say what the 12V puts out, but it's located under the hood just like a normal car.

My Spark full charge estimated range just dropped 10%

That makes sense. With my commute 100 miles is about 4 days. Now that I've had the car longer, and we've had a steady run of cold temperature (40s daytime, 20s at night) for a couple of weeks, I do believe that cold has a larger effect than I first thought. The battery pack warmer minimizes...

    Snow chains/traction devices

Is anyone using any sort of wheel traction devices? The manual says you can't use chains, but doesn't say what you can use. I'd rather not invest in studded tires because we only get snow a couple of times a year and studs have terrible rolling resistance.

DC fast charging: J1772 CCS vs CHAdeMO vs Supercharger, etc.

I stumbled across this article today that says Chademo is doomed in Europe: http://www.plugincars.com/why-chademo-death-row-europe-128001.html. http://www.plugincars.com/why-chademo-death-row-europe-128001.html

    Honk when charging?

Thanks markcmann. Now sparky is quiet when first plugged in. Still don't know why it would beep sometimes beep during charging also, but now it is a mute point (pun!).

DC fast charging: J1772 CCS vs CHAdeMO vs Supercharger, etc.

Having not even an eighth of the passion for this topic that others apparently do, I will simply restate my unsubstantiated *opinion* that SAE will eventually win the standards battle in the US. I'm not going to bet my house on it, but having seen technology standards battles play out in other...

    Honk when charging?

Answer:never pull the stick toward you when toggling high beam. Only push forward toward windshield = No horn.

DC fast charging: J1772 CCS vs CHAdeMO vs Supercharger, etc.

Don't get me wrong. I believe Tesla will succeed, just don't expect to ever be able to charge your Spark or Leaf at one of their stations. I do think that chademo will eventually succumb to SAE in the long run, despite chademo's early momentum, and that both standards will coexist for at least...

    Honk when charging?

So, I know the spark will honk once when you first plug it in to charge (which I'd love to turn off if someone can tell me how). But I don't understand why it would honk later while charging, which it does occasionally. It seems random, not connected to any brownout, breaker blowing...

DC fast charging: J1772 CCS vs CHAdeMO vs Supercharger, etc.

VHS vs Betamax, here we go again. And don't forget those 10" LaserDiscs. Chademo began in Japan, and is backed by Japanese car makers (primarily Nissan and Mitsubishi). US makers are late to the party but they are backing SAE. Europeans seem to be inching away from chademo. Regardless of...

Error using the OnStar RemoteLink iOS app

I also use iPhone (iOS 6), RemoteLink version 1.9.5 (170). App usually works but I occasionally get a cant connect now error. If I wait a while and try again it will work. I'd say that app reliability is 90%. Probably not the app itself but intermittent network issues with OnStar.

    L vs. D

My brake lights do seem to come on fairly reliably when I suddenly take my foot off the gas in L at city speeds. However the light also goes out by itself at a certain point as I approach a stop even if I keep my foot off the gas. I think it must be computer controlled based on rate of...
