Do degraded batteries still show as 100% when full?

A question for you higher mileage Spark EV drivers that have noticeably degraded batteries...

What does the OnStar app indicate when the battery is full? Does it still say "Full" or does it say something like 95% and never get any higher? I'm wondering if the battery level percentage gets adjusted for battery degradation.

Asked another way, will charging to 100% only be possible when the battery can hold 18.4 kWh or does the car compensate for battery degradation and adjust the 100% set point. In the latter case, it would say 100% even when the battery can hold only 17 kWh, for example.

The app shows 90%, 91%....98%, 99%, full just like it would with a new car. As I've said, there's no easy indicator to show a battery's reduced capacity.

The only way to really know is to live it. Do a test run under known conditions (Tire pressure, tread depth, temps speeds). Make sure to go on a repeatable route, and record the results. Do enough of these to get a consensus of the miles remaining at some percentage of charge as shown on the app.

Save the results for a few years, then repeat the tests. Any differences may point out the degradation.

Perhaps the car that was used to do the first mileage test in San Diego could repeat that test...
