FOB programing

2016 trying to program FOB. 1) Following the manual no joy. Put key in the transmitter slot {assuming that is the slot under the cap on colum) the DIC did not lite up and did the new one in door look 5 times nope. anyone have any success programing one? 2) Is the key actually supposed to turn in the ignition switch/ transmitter slot?

I read this but it is from 2017 and hoped there was a way figured out by now thanks.

I have a 2016 as well and tried the step from the manual, didn't work. I received the FOB mailed to me from the dealer where I bought the used Spark from and they told me they can program it for free if I drive there but it's a bit far so I opted to go to a dealer closer to me. I think they charged me over $100 (I know, WTF?) for that.

Sorry, you have to have a dealer program it for you. The manual is just wrong.
