    bike carrier

The link you have there shows one review stating that it didn't fit the Spark EV even though Amazon shows it as compatible. sure would be nice if it was that easy to add a hitch bike rack.

    Dealership suggestion? (buying in January)

Rydell is different in that they are not on commision.(i dont think) So don't feel as much need to pressure you into the "wrong" car just to make a sale. I don't recall the sales persons name but the two times I have been there both sales persons were informed on EVs and very accomadating.

    Dealership suggestion? (buying in January)

Rydell in Northridge always has 10-12 in stock and has $2500 off all in stock or $3350 down $89 lease. Also has a couple lt1 with fast charge if you were looking for it (I don't like the leatherette). They are #1 in volt sales (over 120 in stock) so very informed on ev's. This is where I would...

Brush Bar/kangaroo bar for front and trailer hitch for rear

That is bad news, I was planning on ordering that hitch, I have a hitch on all of my cars for bike rack and cargo tray, that allows me to skip the trailer most of the year. Amazon lists that hitch as "fits" for the EV. Please follow up if you get it to fit or maybe post a picture of how it...

Thinking about the spark for a crazy commute- bad idea?

Using the Chevy Spark EV I believe there will always be range anxiety. With a 100 mile round trip commute, and it sounds like no reliable charging at the work location, I believe that it would be tough to recommend the spark. With the criteria that has been outlined 100 mile commute charging at...

Trying to decide between Spark (DC/3.3kw) and Focus (6.6kw)

I guess that is where I am confused. Why would someone pay 20k for a used spark when a new one is 18k after incentives (15k at my local dealer)? according to Edmunds the ffe is 36k so used at 21k seems plausible. The used spark price is the one that surprises me.

Trying to decide between Spark (DC/3.3kw) and Focus (6.6kw)

Is the name plate that important? the spark is built in Korea. Btw what is the price difference focus vs spark? Pretty big gap to get the 6.6 charging. I guess the fiat is out of the question?

    Anyone got a better deal?

The best lease deal I have seen was at rydell Chevy Northridge. $3,052 down $99 a month, 10,000 mi per year. They had that for the last few weeks but not this week. Less mi per year than most but even with a .25 per mile penalty it is less than the standard $199 lease. This didn't have the...

Fast DC chargers in SFO Bay Area

Thanks for the info. Looks like we can guess that " many" Nissan Leaf have faster L2 charging than Spark but not Most.

Fast DC chargers in SFO Bay Area

I don't think I can count how many times you have documented that the spark charges slow compared to the leaf and even with the fast charger you would be lucky to find a charger. So can you give an idea of what percentage of Nissan Leafs have the 6.6 kW charger and fast charger? From my...

    BMW i3

I can see advantages for the i3 but with current pricing isn't the volt at least $10,000 less? Rydell Chevy has 130 volts in stock at $5000 off sticker so any option or package is reduced. Currently starting at $29,995 so comparing to i3 with options could be up $15,000 more. I sure hope it is...

    Batteries VS Fuel

To be clear all I know about battery tech is what I learned here and in common media. What makes a battery? Does it have to be a chemical reaction creating electricity? Or is it energy storage? Super capacitor, compressed gas, hydrogen? So the limits of lithium batteries are near but what about...

    Rental Cars

I would guess the average person would need/use 10 or less days per year. I think even a membership to one of the rental car VIP programs would help people get over that fear of being limited to 85 mi a day

new spark ev owner in Alabama

My point is up till now I never considered a lease because it was "a waste of money" but in the case of the spark ev, I caculated the cost compared to my 2006 toyota Matrix purchased used last year and the spark is cheaper over three years. Between the lower fuel cost, maintanace and CA rebate...

new spark ev owner in Alabama

Is you can't qualifyfor the fed tax credit then just lease. You get the CA rebate and the lease rate combined with the fuel savings will make it cheaper than most any used car over 3 years. The mileage is unlikely to to be an issue if you only charge at home. Is it really that hard to find the...

    Bike rack for Sparky EV

Since I ride a bike every day I have a reciever hitch on all of my cars. I don't like the idea of a strap on scratching paint or the drag of a roof rack. With the reciever hitch you have a ton of rack choices and they are easy to load at knee level. This is $124 and says spark ev fit...

    Suggestions: Dear Chevrolet

It is different for the fiat. While you can get a 500 "near" the price of the spark (if $3000 more is near) the spark tops out at $18,000 and the fiat at $25,000+. So fiat has more upscale trim they can use without producing from scratch. The spark ev is already equipped with the "best" trim...

    Suggestions: Dear Chevrolet

I will bet it costs far more than you think to upgrade the plastics and materials. When you consider the spark ev will have 500-1000 units per year the "pay back" on any R&D will be years/decades. Since by all acounts they are losing money on every car I dont expect to see any "upgrades" beyond...

How low (on range) have you gone? Anybody run out yet?

It looks like you are the only one that has reached zero (and beyond) how can you post that without telling us miles driven? Don't you know some of us feed on data? Les is know your miles driven those two times.

faster highway commute / hot weather

The list gets pretty short if only include EVs that you can actually buy. Today you can go out and buy a Spark, focus, 500, and leaf. The rest are not currently on sale (about half the list) or in such short supply you can really buy one (fit, maybe even the focus I have not researched it due to...
