Perhaps when you access the car remotely with an app the information might display more quickly. Other functions involving remote connections to the car would likely speed up. If needed, Onstar might be able to connect to the car more quickly.
 
My understanding is that the new "4G" cars can set up a wifi hot spot for multiple devices, while the older "pre-4G" cars only use towers for the car's OnStar use. I doubt you'd notice different performance with the OnStar related functions between the two, but I haven't seen any comparison.
