I recently stumbled across http://altcarexponorcal.com/ due to an email list I'm on. I had no idea that they're now holding a version of http://altcarexpo.com/ but in Nor Cal.
Unfortunately, it seems to have a MUCH smaller selection of vehicles to try than the So Cal version. The list is at http://altcarexponorcal.com/vehicle_year/2014-vehicles/. I actually drove down to the So Cal version in 2012. Was good stuff!
I later realized there is some ambiguity in which vehicles are actually available for test drive.
Try loading http://altcarexponorcal.com/vehicle_year/2014-vehicles/ in various browsers (e.g. Chrome, Safari, Firefox, IE, etc.) to see the difference. It seems if you use Webkit-based browsers or ones close to it (e.g. Chrome and Safari), there's a greater set of EVs for test drive (e.g. Leaf, Smart ED).
If you use Firefox or IE 11, you'll see a smaller set.
